    Howdy,

after buttoning up everything last night with a 5.29 regear on my 19 6mt trd or, I excitedly hop in to begin the break in process and find my truck is a drift car chirping the rear tires everywhere.

The diff won’t disengage the locking mechanism.

I thought for a sec that I might have internally wired it reverse polarity, but then I disconnected the plug to the diff, so it’s not getting any power. But no change.

    Any suggestions?

I’m hesitant to chirp these heavy ass 35s on a fresh gear set any more than I have to.

I’m on my the verge of pulling the rear diff out again before causing unnecessary damage, but I’m not sure that will change anything.

    any thoughts? IMG_3624.jpg

    Thanks for chiming muddog.
the 8.75" e locker on third gen doesn't have an external actuator unfortunately.

I did a good bit tinkering with the diff in the truck to try to unlock it.
Played with jacking one wheel up in 4 lo and locking/ unlocking, rocking the wheel to line up whatever might need to be lined up.
Of course the locking dash light just flashes and won't go solid.

I did a lot of forward and reverse S turns etc with no luck.

EDIT: I was able to unlock the diff to a degree with the truck jacked up, but was very clicky on each rotation like it wouldn't fully unlock. also, when I changed the direction of the wheel, it would lock right back up. When pushing the lock button, it definitely locks all the way. HOwever, the light just flashes on the dash.

Digging further, It looks like a simple wave washer that separates the locking mechanism when no electricity is charging the magnets.
Having not touched the actual diff and only doing the ring and pinion, I don't know what could be awry!!!

    Frustration has set DoHHHH......

One more attempt for info before blindly tearing out the diff with hopes and prayers.

That’s looking like the issue. For some reason I thought it pushed on the ring rather than pulling on the ring.
With the plunger removed the diff was fully unlocked

I guess I could have possibly reinstalled it with the diff in the truck, but I wanted to verify I didn’t bend the ring .

    thanks
