    I have a 1999 Toyota Tacoma runs great I was told that my catalytic converter has a expiration date on it and needs to be replaced is that correct

    Never heard of such a thing, if you aren't getting a converter code (P0420 or P0430) and the truck is running fine your good.

    it's possible something caused it to prematurely wear out, or incorrect engine settings blew the internals out, but you should be getting trouble codes, or have difficulty passing emissions testing with either situation.

    but they have no official expiration dates.

    Great thread. I had to smog test in Nevada in 2023 on a 2005 and I only had to pass the reading of the particulate emission as far as I knew. Changed an O2 sensor and it passed.
