Hey Folks, so a while back I was chasing a clunking noise over bumps and my mechanic suggested it might be my body mounts, (original, after 300k miles) He suggested I order the energy suspension kit from LC Engineering. (Part number 8481847 Body Mount Bushings 2001-2004 4WD/2WD Tacoma) I did, and he had his lackey install them.

After installation my body sat an inch higher than the bed, super obvious in the body lines. I really didn't like this accidental "body lift". But we stuck hockey pucks (1") under the bed mounts to level it out. This solution kind of bugs me.

My question to you guys is this: if you've installed this kit, did it raise your cab higher than stock, and if not, is it possible this guy installed them in the wrong places/left some of the original bushings on? I want to get it back to stock height and lose the hockey pucks.

I called LC engineering and they couldn't really give me a good answer.

BTW, the body mounts were not causing the clunk, it was actually a bad rear bushing on a rear OME shock. Much easier fix.

The kit leveled my cab with the bed perfectly on my 96 regular cab.

yeah... Sounds like they didn't install the bushings correctly. Insane that their solution was to install more spacers.

Ugh. Thats what I figured. It's the kind of job I would have done myself but I felt I should toss it to him since he put the time into diagnosing my clunk. Now Im into it for way more than I bargained for and it's not right. The shop owner is a knowledgable toyota guy but his employee (who he has since let go) was not very detail oriented.
