I just applied for a job in the parts department at Thompson Lexus! Thompson Lexus is part of the Thompson Organization, which also owns the dealership that did my frame and my head gasket, and I get an employee discount. Quite possibly the only job on this planet, aside from going to vocational school and becoming an ASE certified mechanic, that will make it cheaper to keep my truck on the road! Starting pay is $15/hour, Monday-Friday, full-time. The job also has a 401K, paid vacations, etc...

I just got a notification on my phone that Thompson has accepted my application already!

I don’t have the correct attire to work for Lexus.
Jeans and tee shirt probably won’t cut it.

Unless they need someone to sweep the floors and maintain the parking lot.
I can push the hell out of a broom for $15 an hour. :)

I did really good with Uber Eats on Sunday, but this is one of the shitty orders that I turned down; I think part of the problem is that customers don't realize how far away they are from the restaurants that are ordering from. Thankfully, orders going through into Philly are incredibly rare as long as I stay out of certain parts of Montgomery County. One time, I had to unassign an order from the Shake Shack in Montgomeryville/North Wales after I'd already marked it as picked up, because it was going into Philly. There is at least one Shake Shack in Philly, so I have no idea why this moron was ordering from Montgomery County.

This is a house in Montgomery County that I dropped an order off at on Sunday night where, go figure, the customer didn't bother to turn on the lights; I was forced to the fog lights and high beams so I didn't trip...

"Illegally wired foglights" my ass. Every vehicle used to make deliveries after dark should have this feature!

One thing I'm noticing a lot of on DoorDash is that people who live in Dublin or New Hope will order from an independent restaurant in Doylestown and expect me to deliver it for less than ten dollars. This was my complaint back in 2019-2021 and it is still an issue now! People should not be allowed to order food more than five miles away from their location! Dublin actually is not a horrible distance, and I will take it if the pay is high enough. I don't like taking an order from the Doylestown area to New Hope, because it's generally a drive of 20 minutes or more, and the customers always seem to be out in the boonies rather than in New Hope Borough. A good number of orders going to New Hope also seem to being going to that goddamn private school where the teacher flipped out on me for not knowing exactly where to drop off food last October, especially at night; I have the name and street of that school memorize and decline all orders going to that school instantly.

Another annoying thing about New Hope is that it's right across the Delaware from New Jersey. Orders going a mile or two away into Lambertville are one thing, but a good number of them go well into the state. I really do not like driving in Jersey anymore, because I found out the hard away a little over a year ago that their state troopers will pull you over at the drop of a hat for the stupidest shit.

New Hope Borough also has very little parking; I don't mind picking up orders from the McDonald's or Wawa just outside the actual borough, but I hate having to find parking for in the touristy part that's right on the river. Therefore, I generally decline orders in New Hope.

And as for low tips or no tips, I think a lot of it has to do people getting pissed off at places like Starbucks for expecting a tip just for making stuff. At Starbucks, as a customer, I feel jawboned into leaving a tip when I use a credit card because they use that damn iPad thing that asks if you want to leave a tip.

The difference is, I'm not a barista in an air-conditioned/heated coffee shop making probably $12 an hour even if I'm sitting on my ass; I'm using an older vehicle with a bit of a drinking problem to deliver food. If you tip a pizza delivery driver, then you should certainly tip me! Trust me, I'm just as pissed as you are that people want money for nothing! In all fairness, my truck does have A/C and heat (both of which work great), but using the A/C decreases the already unimpressive gas mileage and I've also got to pay for routine maintenance!

The other half of it, as stated above, is that I legitimately believe that some of these entitled pricks don't realize how far away they are ordering the food from!

One of my favorite stories to tell is the time a couple of years ago when I got a request to pickup an order from the Wendy's in Doylestown, and it was going somewhere in Jersey that I'd never heard of; I hadn't left the store yet, but I'd already "picked up" the order and had to contact Dasher support to get it unassigned.

I had done pretty good that afternoon and decided to go home. Either on my way home or right when I got home, my friend Doug texted me; Doug drives for DoorDash too. He told me that he'd just had to unassign himself from a Wendy's order because it was going "somewhere in Jersey".

Needless to say, Doug and I both had a good laugh...

I don't remember where the hell in Jersey it was going, but it was not into one of the little towns on the Delaware River like Frenchtown, Lambertville, or Stockton. Those three are literally right across the river from Pennsylvania, and this one was well over half an hour away.

I am 99% sure that there is a Wendy's in Flemington, NJ and have no idea why this dope was ordering from the one all the way in Doylestown. There's a good chance it could have been some stoner who didn't realize he was ordering from so far away, but in my experience the stoners tend to be most prevalent at night and they generally order from within five miles of their home; I once delivered donuts to some young guy in a mansion, in the middle of the day, who looked like he'd been smoking weed. It was not a far drive, and he tipped quite well, so I'm not complaining. But yeah, I guarantee you that poor bastard from Jersey didn't get his Wendy's order from Doylestown...

How have you “picked up” and order.
But not technically picked it up.
Seems to me, you wouldn’t hit “picked up”, until it was in physically in your possession?
