I'm not an ideot... I'm just in slight denial. I am a class A commercial driver, and I understand all the towing mumbo jumbo.

To make a long story short, My wife and I made a very big life changing decision that we are going to sell our house and live in a camper trailer probably for few years.

We found one that we love. The Forest river 25MW.

Problem is, that it weighs 6,101lb.

I've seen that you can add a transmission cooler and airbags to the rear suspension to up the tacomas pulling potential... but I've seen people doing that to haul campers that are 1,200lbs less than this one.

The reason I don't want a Tundra is because I haven't owned an automatic vehicle since 2010. I still enjoy the manuals. But sadly, there are only 2 manual trucks on the market, and they're both midsize. I bought my taco 2 years ago, and I'm still just as happy with it now as the day I bought it. I don't wanna let it go.

Anyways... someone tell me 'no' so that I can confidently pull away from this and come up with some other plan.

    Is that 6101 empty?

If you go slow, you can pull it no problem. Big hills are going to suck. I would seriously consider regearing

Is that the unloaded or gross weight?

poor information on the web about it, all says TBD

I suspect it’s empty, so no, that is not a good choice for the tacoma

    No

Max tow is 6500, Hitch weight in the 500. IMHO, 4000 - 4500 dry weight is max, if you are a light couple with no kids or dogs and travel light.

    Think safety and pucker factor.

Where will you be pulling it, ie mountains in Colorado, sea level, rolling prairies?
I have a 2015 4l automatic with tow package, but live in Colorado. I occasionally pull a 3,500 lb gvw Casita up I70 over 11,000 feet altitude. I wouldn’t want to tow more. Oh and my Taco has a pretty well loaded bed with a Super Pacific on it.
I’m sure you can pull it, but 30 mph up I70 in the mountains would not be my choice.

I wouldn’t do it. The tongue weight plus two adults leave you little payload. If you have any mods that weigh anything leaves you without room for carrying anything in the bed.

I rented a camper that weight to tow with a tundra and it felt like it was hard on it, can’t imagine what it’d be like with a taco.

Thanks for the replies guys. That is what I needed. Just reassurance. I was looking at another one that is more realistic. Shadow Cruiser 240BHS.

According to the sticker, unloaded vehicle weight is 4780. It's close to what you were suggesting trucknh.

    It will do it.
    It will be miserable.
    It won’t be safe.
It will be a snail’s pace slow.
    I wouldn’t do it.
