Middle Leaf Spring Fix

Hello,
Got a cross country drive around 2000 miles that I have to go on next week, took my 2006 Tacoma to the shop and they told me my middle leaf spring on the rear passenger side has been broken. I will attach some photos.
Couple shops have me quoted at 1200-1500 for repair, but essentially my situation is once I get back home it would be infinitely easier to handle that financially. My mechanic friend said there is a chance I could move it back to the middle and get a u bolt and tighten it down and it could possibly get me back home. This is from VA—>AZ
Was wondering what anyone thought of this idea? Would save me over 1000 bucks which I would need to get back. Is there anyone in the Richmond area that would have cheaper leaf spring options that would endure the drive? Much appreciated thank you
