My switch pros T-harness for tacomas with stock LED headlights just arrived. Order came extremely quickly for such a niche/handcrafted product. So if anyone is nervous this dude is for real.

Anyway, I am planning to install my switch pros and everything this weekend, and I am planning things out. I was wondering if the DRL line off of the 3 pin harness always has voltage when the truck is on, and if so, can I use that for my switch pros ignition/accessory line instead of using an add a fuse? I’m sure switch pros only uses accessory as a relay switch so it wouldn’t need much current.

    Thanks

He is kind of an a-hole though.

DRL from the T will be on if the stalk is in DRL or Parking Lights, off with low beam (and high beam). Auto headlights would therefore have DRL active when low beams are off. It's not terribly useful as an aux switch-pros trigger compared to parking lights since the parking light trigger will stay on with low beams, it's just off during the day. And if you really want your bling blingy during the day, you can flip the stalk to parking lights to fire that trigger.

You can also combine the output of DRL + Park for backlighting duty day and night and potentially feed that to the switch-pros trigger.

I really wish they would build a new unit with 8+ trigger inputs (reverse, high, low, park, drl, turn L, turn R, dome, cargo) and some way to detect vehicle speed (via gps or gyro) and temp then some boolean configurable logic. That would be a really nice feature set and well worth an extra benji or two.

Exactly why I didn’t go with a Switch Pro. It would have been cool but without multiple trigger options I just couldn’t justify it, didn’t really suit my needs. Definitely needs more.
