I'm sure there is a post about this somewhere just don't have time to look for it. So, I have a 2012 taco that I want to eventually put in a subwoofer in the back seat area, kinda like the JBL unit. I upgraded all my door speakers except my tweeters and they sound good, but I want a little more umph.. I want to keep the stock head unit because I don't mind it and Im ol school don't like all the tech stuff the newer ones comes with and big screens etc.. I have Blu tooth and that's all I need, so my question is, keeping my stock unit if I were to install a subwoofer in the back would it sound louder than what it is now? I know it'll give me more bass, just want to be a lil louder than just the speakers alone, thank you.

I added a Kicker powered subwoofer and changed out all my door speakers to Kicker (including Subaru Kicker tweeters). I still have a stock head unit.

I think it sounds significantly better and has more bass, but I don't think you will get "louder" without more upgrades. It's subjective and personal, only you can decide if adding a sub is enough.

It won't get 'louder' exactly but it will sound better. Basically you'll be able to turn the bass down on the radio and stop wasting it's power trying to reproduce bass tones so the speakers will sound clearer and less muddied. All of this will make it seem louder to your ears and that's what will really matter.
