House values going up is a good thing, its when its starts to do down, there is trouble. Used market is getting normal here in the states. Back in 2021 you'd think 4runners were made of gold, 2019/20 were priced more than a brand new 22. I saw a specialty color 2017 Pro on a lot for 52k! It was cheaper to buy brand new.

Now checking the used market the 4Runner seemed to be priced as they should be. Which is good, this give buying power for people to buy used 2024s with healthy depreciation.

The used 4Runners have come down some, but the new ones haven’t in the Gulf States region. They are loaded with distributor and dealer installed options to the tune of 5-10k over factory MSRP.

I appreciate you taking the effort to explain. Yes they've added the word "heated" into the fabric seat OR option. You've made it make sense, but I still believe its a bit predatory to add 25 packages. I wish they would have included a lot of these commodities into a few and cheaper packages. On one end you do get more versatility in what you want, I bet the "heated seats + 14 + bar" package would be popular for dealers to order. Its almost what would rental fleet vehicle would want to be, basic but with quality of life improvements like heated seats/steering wheel ect.
On the other hand the most expensive package is $9K, which puts an OR into 55k realm. And if you look for what you get for that $9k, there is nothing that's novel or unique, and again I would argue for 2024 vehicle it should be included.
The TRD Pro trim will start at 55k, everything thats in that 24/25 package needs to be included in the Pro as these were the commodities that were present in the Pros for Tacomas/4R for the past 5 years+, plus a few extra goodies. And many of these commodities, have existed in Camries, Corollas, Ravs 4 and Lexus products for the past 15 years. Not that it trickled down to Tacomas, the want loyal customers to pay top dollar.

It is what it is, I don't own a Tacoma anymore, just wanted to jump on the forums and see what's the reaction to the 4th gen and the pricing. I'm just shocked, I didn't think that be such a big jump from my 17 Trd Pro to what we get today, its $15k difference in 7 years. I hope the new powertrain and tech justifies the $15k difference, but I'm very skeptical. The new Pro needs to be Raptor level tech, to justify this price jump.

Lastly, are you still allowed to customize your vehicle? German OEMs allow that to a T, but my experience with ordering from Toyota and I hear Lexus too, is you fill out a wish list and you get what you get, you might get your color, you might not. So I'm wondering if customer can pick say package X/25 and he will get it, or does he order certain features and gets a ballpark package with it.

I paid $20k less for my Tacoma than I did for my GMC in 2022. Vehicles are expensive now, and the 4th gen Tacoma is a new model with massive improvements vs. the outgoing truck. The constant shock and outrage posts from people who didn't expect the truck to see healthy price increase are confusing to me. Almost as confusing as the half dozen people who post here all day telling anyone who will listen that "they'll never buy one".

Well now in 2024 the Tacoma cost as much as GMC full size truck lol. Just kidding

Like I said, I don't know how much tech and improvement there were between 2017 and 2023, not a whole a lot, because Toyota doesn't change very easily, but Toyota likes to raise its prices year to year, drastically, because people bring money. There is about $2k difference between 2018 BMW M5 and 2022 M5 msrp wise, I admit for 2023 they increased the price by $4K without any major tech improvements, but still pretty much same price for 4 model years. Most Tacoma customers don't buy M5s, yet like I said there is a $10K difference between 2017 Trd Pro and 2023 Trd Pro. That's why i'm shocked, its not the $110k vehicle customer that gets screwed, its the budget midsize truck customer that gets absolutely bend over and told he has to pay extra for the lube, because its an "accessory".

No, now in 2024 my Tacoma was $20k less than the GMC I bought 2 years ago.

It’s in line with the pillar.

    IMG_3986.jpg

I wouldn’t say it’s far at all. My seat goes past the pillar, otherwise I’m too close to the steering wheel.

At the beginning of December 2020 when I bought it, we were just climbing out of the pandemic abyss. But that was just before supply parts issues when to shit and emptied the lots. I caught it just right.

Prices have been terrible since, as you can see in today’s market.

The price of all vehicles have gone up for sure with everything else . But as far as dealer mark ups I would never . As long as people pay them , the dealers will keep doing it , cause why not ? They are selling to make money, and as long as the market works in there favor they will continue

I’m passing on this Gen if the cards stay in my hand. I love my 3rd Gem.

I don’t like the idea of a 4 banger under the hood. Nope, I’m not driving a 146 cubic inch motor, forced fed or not. That’s way too small and will have to work hardcore to get the job done. Longevity? And forget about having to pay stupid money.

    Oh what a shitty feeling.

It all depends on how the motor was engineered . That’s what it comes down too . If done almost 100 percent correctly then the size of the motor does not matter at all. Do I think Toyota wants it to last , absolutely yes . There name is on the line Especially with Tacoma and will be just as much with 4 runner.
Now will it all work? Probably yes , but time will tell. If it does, based on reputation ,and what they have to offer they can capture even more market share, in my opinion.

Idk my V6 works hard pulling a 12’ trailer with a mower on it. Can’t imagine a motor with more torque and a superior power curve being any worse than that.
Then again, I’m open to progress.

People said this same thing about 213 cubic inch trucks because we all grew up with 454s, 383s, 400s, and 390s.

Alls I know is my naturally aspirated 213 :rasta:cubic inch motor has a strong sack thanks to the very large cylinder heads and the trickery inside.

Now the SC motors are making some serious power. And longevity? Ain’t hearing too many stories about those tuned motors going south. I gave up a 4.0 and have no regrets whatsoever.

I SERIOUSLY WOULD REGRET DRIVING A 4 banger por vida.

Truth being spoken here hometown, the 4.0 has the worst idle sound, and the 3.5 has the most beautiful symphony notes coming out of the intake, most particularly after 3500rpms :0)

For you 3rd Gen haters, yeah yeah, yeah…this opinion was made of The Hat’s chili cheese fries and their tuna sandwich!!!
