Hi everyone quick question I recently had to swap out rear differential on my 2011 Taco 4.0 seal was leaking for a while and due to that low to no oil and bearings were all pitted and no good (according to my mechanic) I recently got it back and now runs at a little higher RPMs not much but I do notice it and the fuel gauge noticed too . I am thinking the new rear end is geared lower ? What are your options on this ?

    1GR 4.0 trucks came with 3.73 gears
The 2TR 2.7 trucks came with 4.10 gears.

The rear ends and carrier will bolt up between the two.

Maybe you got a gear set from a 2.7 truck?

if you notice that the rpm are higher, then yea. you most likely got a diff with a higher diff ratio.

So you should be able to jack the rear up. Turn the drive shaft and compare the number of rotations of the tire to the drives haft. Should be 3.73 turns or 4.1 turns....roughly. those ratios are sorta close so that may complicate it

2 or 4wd? If 4wd do NOT put it into 4wd if you think the rear is geared differently. You WILL cause massive damage somewhere in your drive train or get into a wreck.

Good thing you got a prerunner. Throwing it into 4 wheel drive above 50 mph would trash a transfer case.

Good thing the speed sensors would let it happen.

Well you can get away with it with a pre runner. Kind of mess with your speedo too.

I'd rather have the 4.10 gears myself.
But you do what you feel is best for you.

Would be a lot cheaper and easier to just buy tires 1" taller than what you now have next time. Would make everything copacetic.

Yes, as stated you can upsize the tires without feeling sluggish due to the new gear ratio. Good stuff
