    Hey guys,
I was looking to convert my stock headlights to LEDs, but don’t know where to start. Should I replace the entire complex as well as the bulbs or is there a way I can plug and play an LED bulb into the stock complex? Also, what are some reliable options for that?

    Thanks!

I have a forward facing light bar for a reason, for those that think they need led/hid in a standard halogen housing.

I was considering a lightbar, however, the oem halogens are so dim now that I need to have them on hi beam to see in front of me.

If you want LED headlights, you need to do an LED projector retrofit.
You could also do an HID projector retrofit which would probably give you better performance.

I heard too many issues with replacing headlights with LED. Mainly the light pattern is very different with LED's.

Where do you live? Drive through snow a lot? LED don’t heat up like halogens.

I live in Georgia. I think just based on the comments here I’ll stick with halogens, I just need to determine whether the housing is fine still or not. Unsure how to do that yet.

Mine's still the OE from 2002. A little elbow grease and they look new.

I polished my OEM head lamps a few times, but those imperfections where on the inside. Eventually, just got new housings from rock auto and called it a day.

See post #62, post #69, post #73, and post #242 in my 1st Gen build thread. The best remedy is new headlight assemblies (sometimes you can salvage the old ones, but new will be better) and upgraded wiring with performance halogen bulbs. This will significantly outperform pnp LEDs while also keeping the beam pattern like stock, without scatter and glare caused by using an LED in a halogen housing. The recipe is the same as the 2nd Gen headlight upgrade already mentioned, just with slightly different parts.

Little things like that don't bothered me. I got bigger things to worry about.

    It's not a trophy truck, it's a realistic truck:rofl:
