Every time we come back from the beach, I know we’re almost home when I see the mountains. Such a good feeling. On the other hand, our 8 year old has a loose tooth and does not want it pulled. And it’s ready to come out, past ready!

The electric bill came today, unusually I have been looking forward to it for once.

On the right is last year heating 100% with electric.
The middle is part electric and part furnace.
The left is 100% furnace with just occasional electric use. Only 20% of last year.

Of course I transferred some cost to the propane -- the house is a lot more comfortable too.

This is the last pic before the finished product. I broke the edges so stitches or death won't happen when someone bumps into them, and they will.

    Reminds me of the joke:

    Guy brings his date home.

    They hit it off.

Guy: I'm gonna call you Pinky Toe.

    Her: huh?

Guy: I'm pretty sure I'm gonna bang you on the coffee table tonight.

    Impressive!

Do you use a router, file or just sandpaper for the edges?

Looking forward to the finished pictures.

I used a 1/4" roundover bit with a bearing in my router. That gets it uniform. Then I sandsandsand to get it how it looks now. I hand sanded the inside edges, just to knock the sharp of the edge. I am at 180g now and will stop there. Any finer and I will be polishing the wood and sealing the pores, which means streaky stain.

@hiPSI what are you going to use for stain ? I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product. Because I've seen maple turn out great and some just ok.

This time I will just use a oil based blend.
I think the difference between me and other woodworkers is my stain is rubbed on with an old rag made from worn out bath towels lol. I will rub it on and as soon as I get a portion done I rub it dry with a clean part of the towel. I think most do it differently is this method makes you sweat!
