OEM Front Camera Wiring

I have a 2022 TRD Sport Crew Cab. I know a guy with a 2021 side impact totaled TRD Pro who is parting it out. I am planning to buy his grill and a few other pieces. He is willing to give me a really good price on the front camera if I buy it with everything else.

I know it’s basically not worth it to try and retrofit the panoramic view, but my question is will the front camera still work without the CAN lines hooked up? If I wire up power and ground and then tap the composite video out will it work like a normal camera?

I know the rear camera can work this way as there are wiring harnesses to change it to a composite plug for aftermarket radios, but I am unsure about the front camera without the CAN lines connected.

I would like to do this with one of the aftermarket front camera mods, but I don’t want to buy the stuff and have it shipped if it won’t work.

Since your Taco didn't have a front camera and doesn't have the panoramic feature select, how would you select front view? (OEM style)

 

You cannot get the panoramic view unless you have the side mirror cameras, front camera and rear camera. That's what gives you that view/angle. The front facing camera only gives you the front angle.

 

I am not trying to get panoramic view - I just want front facing camera and I would select it using any of the aftermarket mods like the anytime camera kit - I’m trying to just add power and a composite video port to the factory front camera. I know it works for the non-can bus factory cameras but I don’t know if the panoramic front cam will function as a regular camera if I don’t hook up the 2 CAN lines.

I’m in a similar situation, I own a 2023 TRD Sport without the PVE setup. I had the TRD Pro Lift kit installed and it came with the legacy Pro grille and it replaced the collision sensor and the wiring harness for the front driving camera. All I want to do is try and use just the front camera. I purchased both the OEM view button and the front camera. Now I’m just trying to figure out the wiring.

 

Did you ever figure this out? I'm in the exact same situation.
