Probably not the best deal but not looking forward to the electric hybrid curb so...2024xse v6,3.5. With the 8 speed auto and no KD Max etc tune, out of the box, this thing is amazing! Wondering why Tacoma 3.5 never got the 8 speed auto transmission?

    Nice!
    I like those Camrys.
TW can’t handle the 6 speed, they want a three on da tree.

Seriously, you don't even fell the thing shift. I know the truck weighs more and all so why shouldn't it have the better transmission? ...asking for a friend.

We rarely see V6 camrys, they are a hoot to drive. I'd rather have the XSE over the stupid TRD Camry.

Last 2GR for sure, all other 2GRs are dead for 2024, I didnt even know the Camry still sold it, we thought the hybrid change was this year, but its 2025 when all camry switch to HV.

If they just had 2 less doors... Preferably the back 2. They do look good for a family car though.

We have the 2.5 I4 version of the Camry (2023), and even it is pretty darn zippy! I really like the 8 speed automatic in it. We had a 2015 with the I4 and 6 speed automatic and it did not shift near as nice as the current 8 speed. I've been able to squeeze 36-39mpg out of it.

If that car has the Hankook tires on it be prepared to replace them at 25K miles. Bought ours with 28K miles and while they replaced the two fronts the rears were almost at the wear bars (still passed PA state inspection) and sounded like a truck with super swampers. Replaced with a set of Coopers.

You get that kind of mileage because of the reduced wind resistance from the wax.

We have that motor in our 23 Tacoma and 22 highlander. The highlander is much more zippy on the highway. About 3 years out from the v6 failing EPA emissions laws so Toyota didn't have much of a choice.

It has Bridgestone Turanza's 235/40R19's. It sets really close to the road. The way the roads are tore up here in California I am a little concerned.

IIRC that's one of the complaints of the larger wheels; they get bent easy. I have the 18's, but the potholes here in PA can get pretty gnarly as well.

I'm pretty ignorant, so this is probably all wrong. But with 4 Lo, the 6 speed Tacoma has 12 gears, right? So 8 speed would be an extra 4. That adds extra hardware and engineering cost. To also support a manual that would be a 6 speed creates a manufacturing delta that adds extra cost. And since the community frequently adds big, heavy tires after market, they'd still need to regear but it would cost even more+already expensive).

So 6 speed keeps cost of ownership and aftermarket down for a truck intended to cost less than most, right?

I'm not sure all 6 gears are available in 4L, but I've never tested it or researched it. But it's not really all those "extra" gears, as the transfer case (where 4H and 4L are determined) is a separate unit after the transmission.
I believe the 8-speed has been around for several years in other vehicles. That said, I'm still glad I got a 3rd gen instead of a 4th gen.
