That's just part of the job. It's never the big cuts that hurt. It's the tiny shards of glass that get embedded in your skin. Unlike wood splinter your body would push that out after awhile glass just goes deeper. I remember I had a tiny piece stuck in my thumb that shit bothered me for like 6 months. Can't see it to remove it.

Required on a lot of job sites these days. Depending on task you’ll be required to wear cut resistant sleeves also. And crush resistant/cut resistant gloves.

I need to get a pair of those cut proof sleeves. I used to have them when I worked for the other guy but I must of left them in his van and just forgot about it. It's hard working with gloves. Can't feel anything especially little bolts and what not. In autoglass you work with razor blades every day. One of you most used tools.

My uncle is a union pipe fitter in north western PA. My cousin told me he was kicked off the job site for not wearing gloves trying to put a washer on something. I said well that's understandable but my cousin said that's not the first time he's removed his gloves. Guess he just got caught too many times.

Some CMs understand the tedious stuff requires you to remove gloves. Working outside when it’s cold with them on isn’t fun either. They acrually make your fingers cold for whatever reason. We recently had a guy cut through a pair of cheap cotton gloves and a pair of cut resistant with a hook blade. Had he not been wearing them it would’ve been worse. But regardless they suck to wear.

I bought a pair of so called cut resistant gloves. Unfortunately they weren't cut resistant had a blade go right through them. The blade went through the glove and right up the side of my finger. I was highly disappointed with that.
Kicker is I bought them from the glass warehouse

My friends father was a autoglass technician for 35yrs backbin the early 2000s he was cutting a windshield out and the blade broke and hit his forearm he cut both arteries damn near bled out in the customers driveway. He rushed himself to the hospital. He's all good now but lost feeling in his right hand.

I was working in a DuPont facility. They had a rule we had to wear Kevlar cut resistant gloves. I asked them to provide the gloves and they denied. I said ‘you make them, they’re a DuPont product’…

There was a change in glove requirements at a project a year or so ago. Job was figured for cut resistant then added the sleeves. Later changed the glove requirement to the impact/cut resistant. Pretty sure there was reimbursement for the glove change. Cost more than triples per pair. So with 20-25 guys on site for a few months that gets really tough on the budget.

Atleast it looks like we are on the upswing as far as the weather goes. Yesterday morning was 19 when I walked out of the house.

My wife is like a surgeon and a home remedy doctor combined. She find the smallest splinter and with a steady hand remove it. It saves me $ and time going to a doctor.
