This stove has been a little high maintenance. I replaced my first door gasket, I learned that I need an 8” brush and a lot more length to clean the chimney (first floor), the fan was on a thermostat that had issues. The door required some adjustments, and I am paying for firewood access permits for the first time which expires today. BUT I still love it! Happy New Year all.

4th load of maybe 7. El Niño is helping us use a lot less this winter. I may have some carryover. Looks like 3 cord is working out to be average annual need.

Our stovetop iron pot will convert almost 2 gallons of water into 'humidity' during a full day/evening burn. And it uses zero electricity! :)

We have a cast iron humidifier made for wood stoves sitting on it all the time during the burn season. And, we keep a Simplex kettle on it, too. It is amazing how much is evaporated. We do live in a humid region though. Seasoned wood is usually more than 12% moisture.

The wife and I both have eye problems so we need the humidity to be at least 50% in the house . That’s the reason for 3 humidifiers going all the time . I actually have tiny plugs in the tear duct drains in the corners of my eyes to keep the tears from draining too quickly.

Had one of those kettles once. Inside got very rusty and crudy. Now use one of those clear cooking pots. Much easier to clean and to see how much water is still inside.Visionware I think.

Pretty moist in the PNW. Always wet gloves, boots, and jackets hanging around the stove here….& bicycle seats, cameras, homework, backpacks, even some of the wood is kinda staged prior to burning! I think the moss would just consume us all if not for this thing.

I lived in Southern California. A wet towel thrown in a corner would get dry and crusty very quickly.
In Western Washington or Western North Carolina a wet towel thrown in a corner would have things growing in it soon.
