    Hey everyone,
I am going to totally remove my JBL premium system in a few weeks and my cousin has a 2nd gen with the regular set up. We were wondering what the process would be to put my system in his truck.

Does anyone know if it is sort of plug and play as far as door speakers and head unit? Will steering controls work?

Or is it not worth doing?

He's got a little more knowledge about this stuff but I'm a bit of a noob.

    Thanks in advance.

    Not worth doing

The jbl amp won’t talk to his head unit
    The tweeters are totally different.
    The door speakers are different
    The connectors are different
You would need to run additional wire into both front doors
I’m not sure if the sub enclosure fits

Thank you very much for saving me some time!! I knew the sub probably wouldn't work, we were going to switch that, but sounds like not worth it at all. I would be putting the JBL head unit into his truck too, but the rest doesn't sound worth it.

Does the JBL system have any value after I pull it? Or should i just throw it in a box and forget about it until I might need it or sell the truck?

Box it in case you sell. The speakers aren’t good, the amp is weak, and the head unit isn’t any good compared to anything aftermarket.
Aftermarket audio upgrades actually decrease resale and trade in value so keep them around in the attic or shed.

Any idea if the 3rd gen non jbl tweeters would mount up into a 2nd gen? I have found some tweeters that are direct replacement for 3rd gen, but wondering if theyd work in my 2nd. Same mounting brackets and all

I want to say the connector changed, but I’m not positive off the top of my head

Are the mounting brackets still the same? I can swap the connectors easy.

Well the 3rd gen connector is a pain. It’s not very easy to swap

I don’t think the mounts are the same though.

my 2nd gen sub blew/cracking sound. I was thinking about taking 3rd gen woofer out of enclosure and put into mine just the woofer swap keeping everything else the same. is it plug/play? I know some toyota door speakers you have to drill out the rivets, thanks!

its probably easier to find 2nd gen woofer/enclosure but the 3rd gen are more availabe.

Connectors are different but mounting is the same. I just cut the connectors and solder them.

I got gen 3 JBL taco system in my gen 2. Door speakers are the same. Plugs are the same. You can get adaptors on Amazon as well. Tweeter connectors is what changed. I haven't tried the sub yet. Trying to source an amp for cheap.
