    Been a member a while ago but never posted anything I have joined again because I have a 2014 Tacoma TRD and just received a quote to fix a noise I had coming underneath Turns out it’s the catalytic converter bolts rusting Guy wants $2800 to do it Advice would be helpful as the truck has no rust and runs great

    Just tack weld where the bolt used to be if it's those heat shield fasteners that rusted out.

    There are missing pieces in this story.

    Exactly what is making the noise? Loose heat shield? Bad cat to pipe gasket? Other?

    If you have no codes and no rust, why does the system need replacing?

    It may be a legit repair that you don't understand what's being done and why.

    Or it could be a skank working to empty your wallet.

    But we can't offer the best advice w/o more input from you.

    Certainly the previous posts with '2nd opinion' are solid if you're totally dependent on others.

    Believe that was a quote to replace the converter The mechanic doesn’t do custom exhaust work Thanks for all the good help
