I'm in the market for a 2nd gen tacoma. Just believe they are the best looking, specifically the facelift in I believe 2009. I will be letting it sit most of the time, but it will be getting some cosmetic mods to make it a little more fun off road, but most of all used maybe twice or three times a month to tow/haul. I was wondering what to avoid when buying in this generation and what to look for. Also what packages are available, just as much information as I can gather. Never really looked at tacoma's, but my stepfather loves his and bought another second gen after a deer wrecked his, so that speaks for itself in my mind. Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to TW.

You can educate yourself by researching various topics on here or on the internet.
There are many subjects that is text, image, vocal, and video based.

First, make sure that the vehicle fits your current use case and potential future use case.

A Tacoma is a jack of all trades, but a master at none. It is by its category a light duty truck.
If you consistently tow, haul, carry, cargo or work materials. Tundra or another brand may be more suitable for you.

Depending on your terrain, a tundra off-road or similar full size may be physical too large for technical trails.
