In case it wasn’t obvious, humidity doesn’t have the same effect on engines as it does on humans, because they are not cooled by water evaporation, ie they don’t sweat. The ambient temperature and volume of air per second through the radiator are the primary factors.

Incorrect.. the battery, motor, and some electronic components have a cooling system.

Do the radiator wash thing. My first truck started over heating randomly. After hosing it down for An hour or so I had knocked out a driveway full of muddy water. Started it up after letting it dry for an hour and never had the problem again.

I'm in the middle of testing a dual fan set up, however my testing is geared more for slow crawling events or when you're waiting at an obstacle for others to get through on a hot ass trail ride. The fans I'm testing are lower quality 12 inch fans rated at 800 CFM each.:jerkoff: Run to a simple on off switch with no temp settings. I want to be able to control them as I see fit. Because of the intended use and the lower quality I'm placing them away from the condenser/Rad as they will only be used for slow speeds when the factory fan is not pulling hard. I assume you guys that tow often could install better quality fans to use while towing. There is a decent amount of room behind the grill and I can confirm dual slim 12 inch fans will fit on the condenser behind the support brackets and the horns/trans cooler. Or you could upgrade the trans cooler and add a fan in front of it to a simple switch to be used when towing.

I'll be testing over the next couple of weeks in different driving scenarios. I'm at under $60 bucks for the fans, wiring harness and switch. I'm hoping it works well but I also don't expect much. Just to be clear I understand they will work better up against the rad/condenser but as they will not be on all the time I don't think they are good enough quality for that position and think they would actually restrict air flow at higher speeds which is a common issue with elec fans.

That waiting on the trail or sitting in a traffic jam is an ongoing running hot issue and AC killer. You'd think they would have fixed this on the 3rd Gen...I had the same issue on my 2nd Gen. Interested to see what your results are. Are you going to run a scan tool to get accurate engine temps?

I have an Ultra Gauge connected that I run full time for the coolant temps and such, I need to research and see if it will read trans temps in the taco. Its an old gauge I had on an XJ, I was surprised it worked on the taco.

My 2019 Tacoma (2GR-FKS) runs around 190F - 200F in the summer and only if I'm idling (for 30min) in 100+ degree weather will it creep up to maybe 210F.

And thats just what Torque or my Ultra-gauge tells me.

I haven't loaded it down a ton but overall it doesn't really get hot.

Can the ultra gauge read the trans temp out of the box? Or do you need to add trans sensor?

It might be able to in the auto, but I have a manual and it doesn't have a sensor for that.

The Scangauge 3 read the trans temp straight out of the box, but costs $269-$299
