Hey there everyone, long time Tacoma driver and first time poster. My Tacoma was recently struck and damaged after I put a bunch of work into it, and I was wondering if anyone could give me some estimates as to what I could get to sell it right now, as is.

In the beginning of Jan. I replaced the blower motor, the battery, the engine air filter, changed the oil, and I also put two new tires on the front because the 2 previous were wearing unevenly from a previous wreck. The engine head gasket needs to be replaced, as well as the brakes. The suspension is also not in the greatest shape, but the 4WD works like a charm. The engine has a little over 225,000 miles on it.

I've attached photos of the body damage, but I'd rather not drive it anywhere so I haven't been able to get an estimate from a shop as to what damage actually occurred. I have also not been able to get the hood open, but the only fluid that leaked out when I was hit was the wiper fluid.

Many thanks to anyone that replies

It is a 4 door, v6 3.4L, and the bumper is fubar, I'm not too sure about the rest of the front end frame to be honest. Most of the damage is viewable from the pics, besides some slight door panel rubbing by the driver side door.

I would figure $6K~$7K in parts.......not including the labor....

and thats a lot of money considering it'll need a new rack and tranny in next 100K or so.......thats another $4k...

And then there is the frame curse......if you got it.....you got it....

Really hard to say until you start dismantling the front end. If it were me, I would remove what’s left of the front bumper to get a better idea. If the frame isn’t jacked I would start hitting the salvage yards looking for a donor Tacoma that’s been ass-ended but still has the front end intact.

Here’s a parts list to give you an idea of what’s involved.

Frame condition is a big selling point.

Previous wreck??? Never repaired properly so the tires were wearing?

Looks like you rear-ended somebody... and it needs brakes? After a prior accident? Did it need brakes before the prior accident? Also rear-ending someone?

I'm inferring a lot here, and perhaps not justified at all... but it sounds like a train wreck.

Depends on what you can do yourself. If you're paying someone around here to fix that it'll total the truck for sure. Especially if you have to get into straightening up the frame and suspension so it will align properly. It can be done fairly easily if you can do the weld/fab/alignment yourself, it isn't terribly complex. The body work is pretty easy too. But if you're in a position where paying someone else is necessary it's going to be up over 10k pretty fast in this area.

To be clear, op wants to sell, not repair and is asking us of the value.

Value is based on who wants it. O’Silver_Taco is offering you money, that’s the best case, find an interested party on Craigslist or similar. Otherwise it’s salvage based on its condition.

Calling it a shitbox, not the best selling tactic

Tires wearing from a previous accident makes me think the frame was already bent and is now probably even more bent

Honestly difficult to say what you can get out of the vehicle in its current state. As others on this board have put it, everything depends on the stuff that is "skin deep" i.e. components, drivetrain and of course the frame. Repairs to the vehicle via a professional body shop will IMHO surpass the 10K mark as Pathfinder1776 stated, depending on what surprises behold you and if you really love your truck that much. If you plan on selling your vehicle on craigslist get ready for a lot of lowballing tire kickers that will drive you nuts sometimes. What-ever you decide keep us in the loop and let us know how it goes, hopefully everything works out for you.

I’d guess $2k and that depends on how far past registration it is and any back fees.

It’s really not in that good of condition and “previous wreck” causing tire wear and now a front end collision, and needing new heads (at minimum) and an automatic with 225k… that’s just so much in questionable condition that it’s a parts truck or a project for someone that likes doing a lot of work.

Thousand bucks tops. 5k minimum to get that back to likeable and then I'm still stuck with a salvage title. Anything leftover is consumed by my free labor

Oh yeah, OP never said if this is a PreRunner or 4x4 as well.. I may go down to $1k if it’s a prerunner.
