There's lots of USB extenders like that on Amazon.

extenders? Interesting. I cut a circular hole in the little cubbie off to the left to run the usbs but I would've loved to have a plastic bit with the exact usb-sized cut-out or at least a tool that could cut usb-sized holes into the plastic would've been cool.

In case anyone is wondering it seems the Nov 14th update is just the same one that comes with the unit. upload_2024-2-26_22-6-49.png

The head unit has 2 USB ports, so I got it on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MY1WDIU). I didn't use the USB cover that comes with it, seemed cheap and didn't need it since it'll be always have a 5" USB-A to USB-C plugged into the magnetic phone mount/charger right above it. You just have to drill out the hole, and on the backside I used a multitool to remove the raised plastic to make room for the securing nut. Simple!

@GrandTheftAngel If you're having the cold-is-hot and hot-is-cold issue (which I had) it's a simple fix. On post #1091 the OP mentioned this:

    -----AC Hot Cold Swap-----

If you have this issue on the new 2022 model I happened to come across a fix.
If you hold the front panel defrost button (right side third one down) for about 10 seconds then let it go. It will swap the temperature settings to make hot cold and cold hot.

Oh I see! I was thinking of something else. Like feeding the two usb cables that come with unit through a hard plastic with specifically designed holes to securely hold them in place

Thanks! someone on another thread told me about this solution too and it worked like a charm. Didn't realize it was so common as I didn't hear any of the yters mention it! Feel dumb for over looking the bit of text on the first page of this thread

has anyone had any luck with the obd car reading settings? it seems cool to get an idea or tire and fuel consumption but mine doesn't seem to work. Hopefully I'm not overlooking something already stated here.

How does this thing do with an external amp? I'm looking to replace an old Pioneer deck, and this looks awesome, but are the pre-outs good enough?

I think so. but I have the stock system. I noticed there is a toggle on the unit in settings for factory amp and when it's on I can have the volume all the way up and it doesn't really "hit" but man when I turn it off it's so loud! much louder then my old stock system. I've been pleasantly surprised by the sound output this unit has given me with stock speakers!

Unfortunately, it will not work with our truck it requires canbus connection. You can use a OBD dongle and a separate app to get info.

I forgot to mention with the new update there are separate volumes for calls and music when in CarPlay.

This has been bothering me since the gen1 model.

Can someone tell me what I’m doing incorrectly? The Apple Car play works flawlessly until I use a hotspot to download apps, then I have to reboot the unit to get CarPlay to work even if I’m not using the hotspot. I decided to use a SIM card, now with the SIM I can’t get Car Play to work, I took SIM card out and still wouldn’t work until I took the SIM card out and did a factory reset, I also had the SIM card blank screen until I put in my 4 digit password. Any suggestions on how to make that swap from connected AUCAR WiFi to or SIM to CarPlay? I will use the unit without it being connected but to me that’s like 50% usable.

Are you reconnecting your phone to the Bluetooth? It will automatically connect to WiFi once you do.

I was just playing with my head unit last night and I can connect to CarPlay and WiFi at the same time. But my phone won’t connect to CarPlay if I am already using the hotspot on my phone. But if I connect CarPlay first and then my phones hotspot it will work. This is a limitation with the phone though. I hope that makes sense.

first, thank you for your reply.

I think my question is, whenever I have anything connected but the iPhone, WiFi (home nerwork) SIM Card, I have to reset the entire unit after connecting. I can’t leave a SIM card in the unit or it won’t connect to CarPlay, I downloaded some apps with the SIM Card, set them up but it won’t reconnect to car play, I had to remove the SIM card and reset the entire unit, CarPlay works again but I don’t know how to make the SIM card or WiFi play nicely or do a handover!

Thank you so much for all your helpful replies.

Unless there is a new update I think I have the one on the first page. Even though it says it's 11 wed aug 9 update and not the november one you have - it still appears it's the GT6-NA-Q6U.00.108-20230811.902712

I have look on this thread for the AUCAR to see if anyone is having a usb issue, finishing up on my install on 2009. Everything works great, but the USB is only charging phone and not sending data to head unit. Is that normal? I cant get AUCAR to respond via email or whatsapp. Any help is greatly appreciated.
