Tailgate badging

Hey guys I’ve seen the tailgate emblems are apparently discontinued is there anywhere to get them or can I buy them off someone?

 

They popped up on eBay a couple weeks ago, I'd keep an eye out they might come up again.
JamesdeanCreations sells a vinyl decal of the same dimensions, but they're flat not raised chrome like OEM.
I've seen some people swap 2nd gen emblems on as well.

Cheapest option today might be to buy a whole junkyard tailgate

 

The ones I’m needing are sr5 and Tacoma
I saw them for 400 to 3000$ they are to much

 

Yeah I meant that some reasonably priced ones popped up on eBay, probably sold all of them in a few hours though.

I'd keep an eye out while you figure out your options, might get lucky and find someone selling them for <$100.

 

Would it be ok to buy them from someone right off the truck?

 

The letters are soft chrome so when removed the shiny part cracks. So they can't in practicality be removed and reused if you want them to look good. Someone had a replica made on ebay recently -- maybe a first run. They were like $50. Hopefully they'll do a second run.

 

Since the 1st Gen. emblems aren't available, I decided to use the 2nd Gen. emblems.

 

I have a full set of 2nd gen badges if anyone wants to buy them. Say $30 plus shipping?

 

I got some of those recent eBay Gen 1 emblems. The TOYOTA, Tacoma, and three of the SR5.

They’re quite good reproductions, comparing them to originals in my stash. The finish is more shiny chrome than satin chrome as original, but the typeface, size, and “dome” profile are right on.

And the finish can probably be made satin with some careful polishing with the right compound if desired.
