Hi all, recently purchased a 2002 Tacoma and it had a seized parking brake. I figure it's something I can try my hand at fixing. When I opened things up I found that it was covered in rust. The backing plate rim is flaking off and missing chunks all around. Anyways one thing lead to another and now I'm totally stuck in a rut.

The parking brake bellcrank is covered in rust and bellcrank #3 below can only be moved back and forth if I smash it with a hammer.

I tried to remove the parking brake bellcrank but only managed to remove one of the nuts. The other one is rounded off and seized. I tried penetrating oil but no luck.

I also removed the brake cylinder because it looked like it was in bad shape and also it was in the way for me to get good leverage on removing one of the parking brake bolts. While removing the cylinder, I snapped the metal brake lines behind it. The brake fluid is still slowly dripping.

Is the backing plate still good or do I need to replace it? From my research it looks like it would require taking out the axle. Is bellcrank #3 a part that I can find and easily replace, I couldn't find any info on that. I also had difficulty finding the metal brake lines for the 2002 Tacoma on Amazon.

What are my options here? Any advice will help, thank you all

If you measure the length of your broken brake line, you can go to a NAPA auto parts store and buy a ready-made straight brake line then carefully bend it into shape. MUCH easier that way than double-flaring your own.
The rest of the parts (bell cranks, etc) are easily sourceable.

Thanks for linking the brake line parts! As for bellcrank no.3, it sits on the backplate connected to the upper bellcrank through some type of metal latch. It's in the centre of the first picture I posted.
