Every day I travel on interstates and turnpikes that post minimum speeds in excess of 50MPH.

I thought that was just a MA and RI thing. It’s always the Altimas and Maximas driving like idiots around here.

In Oklahoma and especially in Texas, you'll get rear-ended if you only go the posted 75MPH. We got places to get to don't ya know!

Yea GX and 4Runners are pretty old school when it comes to updating the tech, mine doesn't say the PSI either, doesn't even have digital speed. The only thing that sucks about the 5 tire system, TPMS has to read all 5 tires. So getting bigger tires and leaving the 5th tire at home to save weight or if it doesn't fit in the back, the TPMS light will come on. I got oversized tires and luckily they barely fit underneath.

Success, I picked up the real full-size spare from the dealer. It's exactly like the 4 on the ground, 245/70R-17 Toyo Open Country H/T steel belted radial M & S. And with the same alloy wheel.
The dealer didn't want the temp T175/90D-18 in exchange. He said maybe I could find a use for it otherwise. Does anyone need a crappy donut spare?
I'll swap it out underneath probably on Friday and then post a picture of the fitment. Tomorrow I have a job in the field which will keep me offline during the daylight.
I guess I need to give a shout-out to Post Oak Toyota of Midwest City, OK for their help in making the real "full-size" spare a reality. BTW, I didn't have to pay any "market adjustment/premium" and I talked them out of their normal $1495 "PostOakAdvantage" insurance package. Otherwise, I paid MSRP, and ate about $1500 worth of options I didn't want as seems to always be the case with Toyota & their stupid distributor add-ons. So all is well that ends well I suppose (but it was a struggle). Also, thanks to those on this forum for their input and advice.

Awesome, Good news. Its rare for a dealership to do the right thing. Think they did not lose much as a spare wheel is not much money to keep a customer happy. Stand up dealership right there. Kuddos to them!

    The GST response was;
Your email was forwarded to me from our parent company. I understand your concern/issue with the spare tire on your Tacoma. To better serve you and have your concern addressed please call Toyota at 1-800-331-4331 or email at contact@toyota.com.

So they just passed the buck to the already mostly unresponsive Toyo consumer "engagement" contacts shown above.
Pretty much what we all predicted, they don't care about such complaints/issues.
I'm lucky I didn't get the same response from my dealer.

I'll take some on Friday when I swap out spares, 'have to work tomorrow. I got the "blue crush" color, w/ the blackout package. And I may also go ahead and pull the silly front air dam before I tear it up on the rough dirt & gravel oil lease roads that I frequent.

What exactly did you expect the distributor to say?

I expected them to deflect the issue back to Toyota. Exactly what they did. There’s no way they were going to take any accountability.

If for some reason Gulf States Tacomas were the only Tacomas with the lame spares, then it would be different. I’m assuming all of the trucks nationwide are the same, and not a GST specific configuration.

The intention was to call-out all the downgrades that Toyota has instituted especially with the new SR and SR5 '24 Tacoma's. To let them know that their loyal customers are very aware of what's going on. Who knows, if enough Tacoma buyers issue complaints and point out that we don't believe the temp limp-home spares are appropriate and actually unsafe for our purposes, maybe management will backpedal on some of the downgrades of their products. Is it naive to believe you can affect such a thing, maybe. You can decide for yourself.

Surely you dont think Toyota produced the truck, shipped them to GST distribution lot, and left it up to GST to source and install these spares?

Gulf States doesn’t care. They are a monopoly owned by a very rich family. Their job is to guarantee sales of a specific number of units. They get to pick color and options at a secret price. They then sell allocations to worthy dealers.

Not likely. It would be interesting to see them rolling off the assembly line.

I think what you did is great. More people need to speak up and stop letting corporations screw them over.
