Hey y'all! Been getting more into cooking awesome meals while out on trips. Sure, the go-tos never fail, such as sandwiches, burgers, hotdogs, salads, but there's just something about a proper meal cooked with love that just hits DIFFERENT when you're out!

Depending on whether I'm on a solo trip, small group, or big group, I bring different "setups"

I used to use the Eureka Ignite Plus blue double burner for many years as my only option, but recently replaced it with 2 new CADAC stoves. I currently run the CADAC 2cook3 Double Burner as well as the Safari Chef 30.

Of course we can't leave out cooking over a fire!

Tripod for Dutch Oven - Dutch Oven Fire Stew is best stew

Old photos of various uses with the Eureka:

My buddies and I used to always take our Amazon party tent (sleeps 8) and primarily go to developed campsites. This was great since we could pack lighter. This tent got beat up quickly so we all got our setups as time went on.

Nowadays, I do many more Solo trips or take 1-2 buddies at most. My roof and bed rack each can store a table underneath, so those tables always come with me and serve as the kitchen. With the tables in the racks and a stove in the trunk, all that remains is the food itself. We collectively invested in a Group Dometic Fridge, and it's been awesome with that thing. Ice is in the past, and so long as we have charge, our food stays at the same temp. We had one battery-out emergency on a particularly hot trip but other than that, smooth sailing.

If I'm solo or with just one other person, the Safari Chef 30

The 2cook3 from CADAC is my favorite so far for the non-stick griddles it comes with (don't have any photos of us using it yet :( )
The Safari Chef has the same non-stick griddle, just round instead of square.
I loved the Eureka while we had it, but over the years, we just kept having to take it apart to clean inside it because it would get so gunked up internally, that we got sick of it.
Nothing will replace the flavor of fire, but having the Dometic to keep meats cold or frozen, coupled with easy-to-clean stove griddles has allowed us to cook steaks, Korean BBQ, grill onions, and more without having to bring along extra pots and pans.

My next step will be a 5-gallon propane tank so we can stop buying the 1lb'ers.

    Let's see your setups!
Bonus if you provide a go-to recipe.

    Sloppy Stew
    Ingredients
    - Bone Broth
    - Meat of choice - we go with beef chunks or chicken usually ~0.5-1lb per person
    - Chunked up potatoes
    - Sliced onions
    - diced tomatoes
    - Sliced red/yellow pepper
    - Sliced Carrots
    - (Optional) Mushrooms
    - (Optional) Tomato Paste (not great for the Dutch oven)
    - Spices to taste
Slice and dice it all up, throw it in the Dutch Oven, and either set in a bed of hot coals, or suspend it over the campfire. Leave that sucker to cook for AT LEAST 2-3 hours, but let it go as long as you can. You'll know it's ready when you can't differentiate the ingredients by texture. This bad boy turns into a delicious melty slop that will refill your health bar to 100%. So easy to make, a group of intoxicated men can't mess it up.

I feel I've finally made it to the next level of my camping prowess. Also have a hot plate and a cheap silicone electric kettle. Moved to electric only peripherals over propane or other camp fuels.

This bad unit is 600W and like $25 on the big river. Current inverter is 1200/2000W but plans are afoot.

Phase III of the buildout is a much larger inverter and tankless hot water heater. :D
