Anyone defending Toyota here is so much of a fan boy it’s laughable. The truck literally says “Off-Road” on the side. It should handle any amount of snow, moderate off-road, some donuts, etc. without breaking.

If they had lifted it and were attempting the Rubicon trail, jumping sand dunes or something similar, that’s another story.

Ever since going from my 2018 TRD OR to a Gladiator Overland, my ZR2, then a Mojave that was stolen and now in my Rubicon XR (Yes factory 35's, 4.56 gearing etc) the Tacoma feels like a cheaply built POS.

As for reliability that is long gone, this is a new product with no proof of anything. With Toyota's history of not fixing issues like the vibrations, rotting frames, and more recently the trash auto transmissions my faith is in limbo...

Everybody here should drive a Mojave to see what they're missing!

Now that the pricing of Mojave’s have dropped significantly they are definitely worth checking out.

They did go a bit crazy... I got lucky when I ordered mine, paid 2021 pricing with a discount then ended up in a 2022.

Seriously! I had two 3rd gens. Currently I'm shopping for a replacement, with more space. I was shocked to find out about the Tacoma issues that had carried on for years, if not decades, like the clamshell bushing, rear driveline vibrations, frame rotting, poor tranny shifting, etc. These were all extremely well known by Toyota and yet, they chose to ignore many of them. Zero excuse for that.

Oh my bad, a Jeep. You’re seriously going to stand behind that Mopar V6? My son’s girlfriend had a Wrangler with that engine and it was a complete POS. I guess the Jeep fanboys are not all that different than the Toyota faithful.

Jeep Gladiator Mojave. It's like the Rubicon but designed more for high speed desert running than crawling. It loses the front locker and I think the disconnecting sway bar but it has a stiffer chasis and Fox shocks with remote reservoir on all four corners. I actually drove a rental one once. It drove and handled veeeeery nicely. It didn't wobble around like a typical Wrangler/Gladiator at all and was pretty stable around corners. Haven't driven a Gladiator Rubicon yet but I have driven a Wrangler Rubicon and that thing didn't handle nearly as nice but the Gladiator has a much longer wheel base. In comparison, the Mojave's driving characteristics really impressed me with the stiffer frame and amazing suspension. I don't like Chryslers though so I'd never buy one.. weeeellllll, if they weren't $60k new I might consider one.

I'm looking to switch out of my JKU, it has questionable build quality at best. Seized door hinges, seized drums after 40k miles, leaking roofs, pot holes setting off the traction control, and constant rattles all over. Build quality and jeep are not two things I would put together based on my experience.

How many millions of vehicles have the pentastar V6 in it? Yes they have some oil leak problems but you aren’t seeing the sides of the roads littered with broken down Jeeps.

They were driving it; not beating on it. It's a truck designed by Toyota to be driven off road. The miles that TFL's Taco has on it are not hard or abusive miles. Guys here on TW drive their Tacos harder without issue. TFL either got a lemon or there are going to be some issues/limitations with the Gen IV.

Anyone whos spent a full day in a OHV or SRVA park will see right away that the test they put on their truck would amount to nothing in a 4x4 park. They’d have broken that shit on the first obstacle

It is way to small of a sample size to make any real assumptions either way. But I would say the default assumption of this being a one off/ freak assurance is more likely than not. It's hard to imagine such a decrease in performance from 3g to 4g.

Yeah I had the wrong year for the camera issue, are the 24's still under SS for a different software issue?
