    Hello Everyone here.

    This is Tom,
It is a pleasure being here.
I just bought my first Toyota Tacoma. It is a 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD OFF ROAD.

I was a little disappointed, because of transmission issues "Gear Hunting"

Everyone told me about this issue, but I bought it anyway. My brother advised me to buy Ford, because they are more comfortable and it has more useful features; nonetheless, I decided to get it. I am taking the truck to install the OTT and I hope it will get better.

My first trip with the Pick up truck was from Orlando, FL to Charlotte, NC. It was very disappointing, because after reaching 45 the truck was dying on me. I didn't understand why Toyota hasn't addressed this issue that everyone is talking about it.

Ford, Chevy, Honda and RAM could be great. But, I wanted a Toyota Tacoma, so the price was right.

I have several vehicles, but I didn't have a Toyota Tacoma.

Yikes, if the truck is dying on you after 45MPH you have bigger problems than gear hunting or something a tune is going to fix. Probably should get that looked at. a Ford Raptor or RAM TRX would be pretty sweet, but like you said, the price is right for the Toyota once you get your engine issues addressed. At least you didn't get that Honda, so you have that going for you.

    Hello 23MGM,

The pickup truck didn't really die on me. It stalled for 5 seconds or so, then it engaged into a gear again.
I have a 2017 Highlander with the same engine, but it is completely different. Toyota should repair our Vehicles. It is its responsibility.

That still isn't a gear hunting thing. Stalling for 5 seconds has never happened to me. It gear hunts for unexplained reasons from time to time. Toyota would probably repair stalling under warranty I would think.

I took the truck to get the OTT. All the issues dissapeared. It is beautiful truck now with no issues.

Welcome to TW! The gear hunting is definitely annoying. But, still a great truck!

people really love to call it gear hunting. More accurately, it just loves to be in high gear all the time. Going 15mph in a school zone? 4th gear. Cruising at 35mph down the street? 6th gear. I would venture to call it "premature gear changing" or "RPMS under 1200 all the time"
