Hah, bet you don’t get that red clay off your cats- now they’re terra cotta porcelain coated and the your pipes look rusty! Had the same thing happen to mine while traveling on backcountry trails going through New Mexico a few winters ago and the stuff is still baked on my pipes. It won’t power wash off, so the only thing I could do was wire brush it where I could reach it.

I get inspired from all the off road posts and camping posts on the site. Helps keep me going.

Especially Andy and Dawn on their Tacoma around the world journey. That sure is amazing.

 

Surprisingly a bunch came off with the under coating (California but I have to drive it on the beach at work). I have an undercarriage attachment for my pressure washer which is helpful. But you’re right, it’s kind of just part of it now. Oh well, I’ll think of that and the new pinstripes as a good memory of some fun trails

 

Not too sure where I was, somewhere in the NJ pine barrens having a good time playing in the sand.

 

I drive these kinds of trails about 30 trips per summer. The smaller hard to reach lakes I fish are typically on truck width trails and so many trees to clear.

If you don’t have a good buck saw or chain saw and a big blow comes up after you reach your lake, you may not make it back out for all the deadfall.

Tree clearing is ok. What I don’t like so much are the literally thousands of mosquitoes that swarm me when I get out to clear a trail.

I am keeping the DEET companies in business. Bottles of that each season. My body, clothes and truck seats painted in that stuff from May to August. Main reason my wife no longer joins me on these trips.

 

Hit the trails last weekend with some friends! Lots of mud and some snow, good times!

Your county department of Tacoma Welfare will be by to remove the truck from your custody. They will find a good home that will get it muddy, pinstripe it, take it offroad.

You will be getting a Geo Metro in return.

 

Keep him in the family but really punish him. I'm thinking first gen Prius.

 

Great morning at HV.

 

Having fun in Moab last April. This was my truck's inaugural "offroad" trail, having picked her up just a couple weeks before. This is Long Canyon. Easy trail but beautiful.

 

On another trail in Moab just last week. This is a rated 3 trail over behind the airport. Nothing too crazy, but gotta be careful or I'm dragging my underside, especially with those soft OR shocks.

 

Beautiful day in the mountains. Fantastic parking it and several hikes in the snow to go check out the hundreds of thousands of tracks from elk, moose, deer and bobcats.
