I have a 2015 Tacoma with the 2.7 liter engine. I am wanting to tow a small travel trailer. Realistically what is the weight limit of a trailer I can safely tow. Please and thank you.

I also have a 2015 2.7L 5 speed. I pull a 2021 Tab 320S Boondock with no problem. I did install Sumo Springs and complete 7 pin wiring ( It came new with an OEM hitch and 4 pin).
I have pulled it from central Virginia to Nova Scotia and over to the highest point in WV many times. It’s also been up Sanstone mountain on 64 in WV (a 7% 5 mile grade).
It doesn’t charge up the mountains, but it does it without a problem.
The dry weight is 2090 pounds and I’m at around 3000 to 3100 fully loaded.
Certainly don’t do it in the US or Canada, but the same drivetrain in the Hilux is rated to pull a bit over 5000 pounds in other countries.

I’m just guessing here, but I’m going to venture a guess that most people who comment on towing with the 2.7 have never towed with it.
In most every case you have to add hitch and wiring yourself. I was surprised to find mine new on the lot with the hitch and 4 pin wiring already installed.
