    I was wondering about this, but the guide I have saved says using 1A DPOs are ok?
    Also, our lockup solenoids aren't PWM right? Just on or off?

    I was told a lot of people ended up burning up their dpos. Because the sustained current can be higher that 1a and the inrush current is much higher. All the guides I've seen show using a relay pack instead. There's a guy that just did it to an a442 on mud and had to use relays as well. He used solid state relay so he can pwm the engagement of lockup and in the case of that one the accumulator solenoid.

    You won't have any problem just controlling it with a relay though you don't have to use pwm.

    Very good to know.
    I was thinking I'd use SSRs as well, just to avoid the constant clicking noise lol

    Just keep in mind they get kind of weird they need pull-downs. I'm not going to pwm lock up cuz it just doesn't matter on this application that much and there's no accumulator solenoid so I'm going to use omron minis and I'll probably just insulate the box so nobody has to listen to it though they should be much quieter anyway than a typical Bosch style automotive relay.

    I might just make a little PMOS perf board. 3x 5A each or so, low drive activate, throw it all in a little box and call it a day. Not really any need for an actual relay since there's no AC

    Most trans tunes do that with conditionals for engine load, you could change the axis I'm sure though if you don't like it.

    I don't know if anyone in here was planning to go to individual coil packs... but the Haltech IGN1A coils are really just Mercury Marine coils and can be ordered cheap depending on where you look...

    Register in a non smog county? That's what I did with my 300ZX when I was in the valley. There are some other Toyota wasted spark packs but I don't think they're any more impressive than our own.

    There's more hoops now (eg: you can't send registration to a PO box or mail forwarder) and idk anybody outside the smog zones.

    You would not believe how annoying that is if you try to do it without a service ($$$). I tried during COVID for my Saab. Their MVD bounced back my title 3 times for redundant issues that I had already cleared up with their various staff over an 8-12 month period. I had a virtual mailbox (forwarder) for the LLC to AZ that I was paying monthly during that time so that I could get it registered and have a legal address for the LLC in MT. I finally just threw my hands up and cancelled everything after the 3rd return of my title with the conclusion that the only way to do it would be to physically travel there for a few days, or pay the agencies that physically operate there and do this as a business model. Oh and 3 years later the MT Secretary of State Department finally realized that the "agent" of the LLC had an AZ address, even though the LLC was registered in Missoula county, and dissolved the LLC lol.

    It is/was surprising. Especially considering the current laws (electification) being considered. I sure hope there isn't a change of heart and some of those emissions law changes aren't rolled back. That would suck.

    The reason they were dropped anyway was because they had been determined to not make a difference due to the large number of modern vehicles on the road. Operating the testing stations was just eating state funds. I don't think they're coming back as the amount of gas vehicles drops anyway.
