That's the 4cyl life bro.. I've never used 4hi ever.

Yeah, at those speeds the little 4 bang should do fine, I've never complained about mine in the lower gears. My problem is on my local roads, I drive appx. 60 mph., that's appx. 1800 rpm., my little Taco has no power at 1800, it's straining & shifting all the time. But listen, this past weekend, I took a little trip on the Interstate, running appx. 75 mph. my little Taco did much better at 75 mph., It was up to appx. 2300 rpm. & I was amazed how much better it did. It was amazing the difference in power from 1800 to 2300 rpm's. but 75 on my normal roads is just too fast for me to be comfortable. Seems like 4 options for getting to 2200 to 2300 rpm @ 60 mph, 27" tires W/ my 4.10 gear = 2143 rpm. (NO), 4.88 gear W/ my 31.61" tires= 2179 rpm. (maybe), find a way to run in 3rd. gear & make the converter lock, or disconnect the locking converter, that I hear is possible, but will make the trans. overheat. Just say'in what I've found. Your 35" tires W/ 5.29 gear 60 mph. = 2133 rpm., 4.88 would be 1968 rpm. @ 60, either should be way yonder better than the 1653, the calculators say you are running now.

Honestly if it was me. I’d go back to stock, trade it in, buy tundra never worry about “slow”. Do everything yourself saves thousands on mechanic labor.
