Anyone thinking about letting their 3rd Gen Taco go for the last of the Gen 5 4Runners?

Still all in my head… but I’m keeping the chrome bumper!
I’m not here to argue the differences, just wondering if others are considering it too. I was at the dealership grabbing a part and gravitated towards a Runner SR5 in the new underground color. I do dig the made in Japan element over my sub par south of the border quality. The dealer would offer me a little more than what I paid for my TRD OR so it got me thinking a bit… a risky behavior for myself. Just wanted to see if anyone else was thinking to maybe change sides. I know I can’t see myself getting in a long term relationship with the new Gen 4 sloppy Taco. Hope you all have a solid day out there in Taco Land.

I think 5g 4R will outlast a 3rd gen taco. Time will tell though.

If I didn’t need a truck bed and 4R offered MT, I would be gladly driving one.

Aren’t the 3.5 blocks/engines made north of the border?

I had a 2018 4Runner that I really put a lot of work into and it was great, but I don't know if I would be willing to go back to a 4Runner anytime soon, especially since I just paid off my Taco this week.

I do miss the 4Runner though, and regrettably traded it in on a 2021 Rubicon Diesel, which I then traded in on the Tacoma 4 months ago. (I have a problem I know)

I find it tempting but the truck bed is very useful.

I traded my 2019 4Runner for my 20 off-road. It was slow and bulky and I don't regret the change.

    Itz JDM tyte, yo!
After renting one, no. My Tacoma is more enjoyable to drive, but that’s just because of the manual transmission.

I also prefer having a truck bed and because I pull stuff with my truck, the extra towing capacity is nice.

No. They are made in Alabama.

I might, based on how the trade can be. Everything is expensive now so i wouldnt rush it

I leased a 2017 SR5 4x4 4runner and a 2020 trd or premium 4runner. Both rode nicer and got worse mileage than my 2017 trd or Tacoma.

The 2017 had a much better factory radio than the 2020. The 2020 had little to no audio output from the rear and back speakers much like the Tacoma's.
The 2017 had thicker and higher quality paint, the 2020 factory paint was garbage.

The trd or 4runner rides way better than the sr5 variant and is worth the cost.

The 4runner is a real brick in the wind on freeway trips, is underpowered and lacks a power rear hatch.

That said the 4runner is probably one of the better built vehicles on the market today and will easily run a very long time with regular maintenance.

Keep the Tacoma and get a 4runner. It's nice to have both. Both excel in different aspects.

I’ve found several TRD Pros at $2,000-3,800 off MSRP. Loving the Terra color for 24, I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

I think I would miss the MT and utility of the bed however. Plus my truck is $13,000 less than a discounted Pro, and at 2.49%. Rates now suuuuuuuck.

I was.excited to jave a look at the 4R when starting to look for 4x4s in the usa... but then learned that they are all automatics.

    That was easy...
The Taco is working out great so far!

I saw a Terra colored T4R the other day. It looks good.
It is in the vein of Cavalry blue, Q-sand, and Lumar Rock.

It would complement an LR Taco in the garage...

    Lunar rock, well, rocks!

Sometimes I’m behind a 4R and I’m like “shit, that has a ladder, I don’t have a ladder, do I need a ladder, would my life be better with a ladder?”… just how my mind works
