Hi TW! Kicking off my thread history with a rather strange desire.

I recently bought a bunch of Diode Dynamics lights with their amber backlights and want to wire them up to kick the backlights on when the DRL's are on provided my circuit is on for it.
(Don't worry about me always having the backlights on, they will be switchable for off road or inclement conditions and having a relay to override using the DRL circuit for signal anyways if I want)

Issue is I cannot for the life of me find the wiring to the NEW 3rd gen NON-PRO LED's. Does anybody know where to track down the wiring diagram for the '21 OR Premium?

I do have intentions to create a plug and play harness for this too for anybody interested.

    Much appreciated fellas

What are the "New 3rd Gen NON-PRO LED's"?

The light design changed to where the LED's are reflectors not projectors

I’d like to see a picture of this one.

Reading it 10 times over I’m assuming OP means OEM LED without the pro parking light frosting.

in which case the connectors are the same as the pro headlights. The headlight is the same too, just chrome and no frosting.

Exactly what I mean. I know the style changed on like 2020 or my 2021. I took a quick look at your store, is it possible to do what i'm looking for? I would have two SSC2's for secondary amber fogs, two SSC2's for ditch lights, and two SSC2's for my area flood lights.

OP stated he wanted added lamps with DRL control, so Dave you're going to have to modify the grill lamps wires taps.

If I'm understanding correctly, OP has some fogs that have back lighting, like a Baja Designs S8 light bar, and he wants those back lights to come on with the truck's DRL's. He would still have a secondary switch for the main fog light feature.

Seems like you could modify your standard headlight wiring harness to break off a DRL lead, that would then be tied into the fog light harness, to trigger the back light.

Close. When I say switched, I mean where normally they would come on with the DRL's (or really all of the headlights for that matter), but also able to have the backlights be disabled via a switch for normal driving conditions. to basically silence them

Ok... that adds an extra layer of relays... I'm sure they e-boys can get you sorted... but man, I think I'd opt for just a manual control of the back lights and call it a day. But then again, I hate electircal mods and the angry pixies hate me too.

Doable. Depending on how many backlights we are talking about, the amp draw is pretty low on the backlights. So you might not even need a relay. If you are like me and want to run everything through a relay (because no matter what @daveeasa says, you can never have enough relays :D) Then that’s easy enough to do as well.

If you did run them through a switch, like a CH4X4 or AirOnBoard type, I would feed from the headlight tap to the source on the switch. Then hook the backlights to the load of the switch. Assuming you use regular illumination for the switch (and this might be different for CH4X4 if I am remembering correctly), then the top portion of the switch would light up when the back lights are on, and off when they are off. The bottom would still be controlled by the dash lights. So the top acts as an indicator light of sorts.

That’s like 0.18A total. So no relay needed unless you want to do something like Switch On=lights off or something

Also, @thekytaco if you want to DIY it, I’m happy to help. Just keep in mind the your DRL circuit is not live when the low beams are on, so if you want the back lights on then, you will either need to tie into the low beam circuit or the parking circuit. The way Dave does it (and I, but I don’t do much unless it’s more exotic and Dave doesn’t want to deal with it), is tying into both and using diodes to keep it from backfeeding. 1A diodes will be enough, unless you plan on adding 30 more backlights at some point.
