Happy New Year! I am a new Forum member. I've been at Tacoma owner for 10 years and This is my second Tacoma, I had a 2010 TRD off-road I purchased new in 2010 and now I have a 2017 Tacoma Limited that I bought brand new 3 years ago. I've been wanting to take the front chin spoiler off since I got the truck and I was wondering the pros and cons of doing so. I've left it on because my MPG has gone down enough with the leveling kit and larger tires. But I do get occasional rubbing from my tires on to the chin spoiler so I thought I'd just take it off. I know it's probably not a very big deal and it's probably a thread on this already that I couldn't find. But anybody wants to offer there $0.02 on this project?

Thanks everyone sorry it took me so long to join the Forum. I appreciate any advice on this.

Take it off, its a truck not a civic. They look instantly better, even stock SR models.

Kings, 275/70/17, a few custom items, lots of Meso mods.
No real Pro's or Con's. I trimmed the corner of mine at first but then just took it off. Lost less than 1mpg. If you like it just trim and leave it on. If not just remove it.

Welcome to TW! If I bought a 3rd Gen I'd remove that chin spoiler on the Toyota lot before I drove it off. :D

Old thread here but real world results from chin spoiler on and off. These numbers are figured by calculator not the onboard mpg reading even though most times it is pretty close in my truck. 1500 miles with chin spoiler on averaged 20.66 mpg. 1500 miles with chin spoiler off averaged 20.28 mpg. The difference is 0.38 mpg so not much at all. I decided to leave the chin spoiler on but not because of mpg. I noticed with the chin spoiler off for 1500 miles that the truck seemed to wonder more almost like I was driving on a windy day. This was especially noticable around 18 wheelers at highway speeds. I would have to fight the steering wheel a little more to maintain a straight line. With the chin spoiler on, its almost like it helps direct the air around and away from the truck. So, for that fact alone, having the chin spoiler on is worth it to me and not for the mpg difference. Hope this helps someone because I got tired of reading opinions that were mostly for looks and decided to test it for myself.
