I'm driving to Dallas, TX on 8 April for the solar eclipse. The is the longest eclipse in the last 375 years so it should be spectacular.

Dallas has issued a state of emergency and is expecting 400,000 visitors along with food and fuel shortages.

Any recommendations on what to bring? Gas cans, food, maybe a sleeping bag? What would you bring?

It seems like you've answered your own question. Bring what you'll need for 2-3 days and you're good to go. Food, fuel, sleeping gear. Have you ever gone on a trip before? Pack fresh socks.

Barring being cloudy and/or rain. Maybe.

I'd be prepared to be self contained for the duration, with enough fuel in the tank to get you a couple hundred miles out of that madness.

Take some poop bags that have the powder inside of them. Pro-tip - a 5 gallon bucket with a screw lid makes it easier than squatting over the bag on the ground.

Why not drive somewhere else that isn’t predicting there to be a shit show? Plenty of room along the path to view the eclipse and not deal with that mess.

@soggyBottom add a pool noodle split and wrapped on the rim for comfort. So your screen name doesn't become reality :D

This. I plotted out the line of longest duration in my area, and it goes through the parking lot of a Nissan Dealership. Just go look at cars:thumbsup:
