I had “low oil warning” once. Was facing downhill.

Once I got on levelish surface the light went away. Engine did not stall or make funny noises.

    Thank you sir.

I went to places where i shouldn’t have, I’ll tell ya that. From those experiences I can tell you that 3G is built like a tank. I was amazed what this truck can do after that snow wheeling trip. It was a miserable 7 hours trying to get out of the forest though.

I use my truck for work now so I gotta be a bit nicer to it, it’s my only vehicle. Im still gonna go camping and such but doubt I’ll ever go wheeling just for the purpose of wheeling.

It isn’t a bad engine, but a compromise engine, same with the new turbo 4, a stop gap until BEV gets here.

Yeah…diesel is all a dream in NA, used to be all hot for one, but EV has peaked my interest more. Not quite there yet for me personally, but it is coming. Have no problem skipping the 4G Tacoma entirely.

We will all soon forget once BEVs take over, can run them upside down, under water, no oil to air filters to change. Massive amount of torque and horsepower, can appease the slow codgers and the speed freaks.

It’s funny how it’s been the same story every time there’s a new Toyota Pickup since the 90s. New version sucks, it’s all over and then once it’s the older one, it’s the greatest of all time.

It is a compromise engine but still got good ol naturally aspirated 6 cylinders.:) I’m running it into the ground so let’s see how she holds up.

BEV are better in every way pretty much except for vroom vroom noises and the fact that joy of driving MT will be gone gone. Yes I’m strange.

Well to be fair 4G is the first Gen that uses turbocharged engines. A lot of enthusiasts are skeptical about it.

1-3G offered i4s and v6s making them “classic” Tacomas. Not sure what the beef is between 1st, 2nd and 3rd Gen folks. They are all great trucks IMO.

Hopefully 4G proves to be just as reliable as previous generations.

There was a Turbo 4 “stop gap” in the 80s before the 3.0 V6 came out. iirc only had a two year run.

Lol! I am sure you can download some vroom vroom sounds into your phone. V6s aren’t the best sounding to me, only V8s sound good. :D buuuut, I am old muscle car guy. Nothing beats that sound and rumble.

And there was the first fuel injected truck, and the first six cyl, and the first independent front suspension truck and the first power windows and the first cruise control, and……It’s always over, until it’s not. When they introduced the legendary 1st gen tacoma, it was really over. People were so convinced. It’s the Toyota pickup thing.

Oh yeah. My ‘85 4Runner had the EFI with the solid front axle, while the trucks retained carbs. Can’t remember if the upper trim trucks got the EFI or not, ‘86 they both went to IFS and EFI, iirc.

Someone was mentioning Jeeps, they pretty much started the luxury utility vehicle trend back in the 60s. What was old is new again. Push button 4WD came along too… our 70s something Wagoneer had it, believe it was in the glove box.

Honestly sounds pointless to me. I’ve been commuting in EVs since 2011 and I’ve owned three, so I’m not a hater like most on this forum.

We all just need to understand that different cars are good at different things, and EVs will not replace or replicate the driving experience of a manual sports car.

I just think we all need to come to an understanding that the manual is nearly dead outside of specific enthusiast circles. Happened to horses a century ago, now it’s happening to us.

Still all in my head… but I’m keeping the chrome bumper!
They already have the lame pumped in v8 sound in the Tundras… just salt in the wound for those things.

It is, be more like a video game…but you know some people will like it, same as needing it to make some type of engine noise. Personally the quieter the better, getting older and prefer quiet.
