Got some Play in my front wheels when parked. State Inspector is claiming a I need new tie rods. Had tie rods replaced 15k Miles/18Monthes ago by a local shop. Truck is lifted 3" on Kings/Bilsteins.

Any Other components that could cause one to be able to move/manipulate front wheels when parked aside from Tie Rods?

Could a lifted Suspension cause premature Failure?

Scratching My head on this one.

Inner or outer? Which were replaced last time? Is the steering rack in good shape?

If that shop used cheap tie rods (Moog, etc..) then yeah, they could fail in 15k.

Yes- the steering rack bushings are commonly replaced to reduce movement in the steering rack. I'd have a friend move the steering wheel side to side while looking under the truck yourself to see what's moving.

Both inner and outset tie rods were replaced. Not sure if OEM or Aftermarket.

Steering Rack was replaced at same time. Vehicle was in front end collision.

Bad ball joints. Loose control arm bolts. Bad wheel bearing can also do it, but usually you hear it before it develops play.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
In your state do the inspection people do repairs ??

Often I have had them say things were failed only to find they were just looking for work from the clueless.

I do wonder just what Brand rack was installed?

    Good Luck !

Never heard of state inspection failing bc of suspension
Unless obvious/tons of movement in suspension

yes a lift can prematurely wear out suspension bits…..just bc previous engineered geometry has changed

Firstly, Jack up a front corner
Grab the tire at 3 and 9 o’clock and shake……if noticeable play….inr or otr ties
Grab tire at 12 and 6 o’clock and shake
If noticeable play could be wheel bearing/upper or lower ball joints/inner control arm bushings

have a buddy ‘shake’ and you under with flashlight…..look at all suspension connection points

My guess is lwr ball joints
Search, lots of easy tests to do without jacking the taco up, but do need a pry bar

let us know what u find!
