If you say so.. I've been wanting a new tent and now I have a need for a larger one. So why get one similar to what I have?

I thought he was gonna keep it stockish so he didn’t break it like the last one but seems that plan is out the window

    ...and here's the breakdown:

Coolant was found in #5 cylinder, technician recommends replacing both gaskets.

    Head gasket sets: $619.53
Oil, filter, and filter gasket: $52.80
    Coolant: $60
    Labor: 36hrs/$6660 ($185/hr)
    Subtotal: $7,392.33

I don't seem to grasp the need for two complete head gasket sets, oil change, "coolant", and 36 whole hours of labor. Feels like I'm being taken for a bit of a ride.

    Can confirm

As long as the frame still tastes the same....

Nothing in there about having the heads remachined before they put them back on.

    Somethings missing.

You will need a full coolant flush though. Any contamination in either direction is bad news.

Actually.... That's a good price on 6qts of synthetic plus filter and at $60 for sllc coolant you're getting a deal on the small stuff lol

I would agree on the oil change, except I just did it myself two days before I took it to the shop. I can understand the coolant flush though. It's honestly not those smaller cost items I'm concerned about, even the $185/hr seems reasonable, but it's the 36 hours of alleged labor for a one-day job that has me confused.

It's labor where you're getting screwed. I wish I made even half that labor charge per hour. The Dealer pockets most of that charge.

$185 is pretty par for the course in the Midwest. 36 hours though..... I think someone is fucking up.

Also the oil make sense, since it has to come out....

The tech doing the work will get between 30-40 since it'll at least be an Expert Tech, if not a master. The rest of it is dealership schtuff.

.... You sure about that? ..... :cookiemonster:

Checked in with an MDT (one who has been nationally recognized by Toyota for not being a collosal fuckup)

36 hours on dual head gaskets is correct. A lot of that labor comes from just the sheer amount of bullshit that has to come off the engine to get to them.
