Is it normal for my fan to stay on constantly while driving or idling? The truck sounds like an airplane constantly and I’m leaning towards a bad fan clutch. It had a front end collision and I don’t think it was replaced.

With that being said, do I need to replace the fan clutch? If yes, do I need to replace any other parts?

My 2011 Chevy Colorado HAD to have the water pump done if you did the fan clutch, and vice versa. The old fan clutch destroyed my brand new water pump’s bearing within a week after replacement. Just don’t know if these 3RZ’s are the same way.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Did your fan have the radiator pushed into it? Was the fan replaced?

You can just replace your fan Clutch if nothing else is damaged.

The fan doesn’t look to be damaged. The radiator and fan shroud was replaced, but I don’t know if the fan was or not. Looks good to me, I just figured the fan clutch was bad since the fan doesn’t shut off ever.

Super simple to do a fan clutch test, could figure it out faster than these posts.

How do you do a fan clutch test?

I was gonna replace it anyways since I’ve never had a vehicle run the fan constantly. Mostly needed to know if there’s anything else to replace with the clutch

    Love me a good lmgtfy.

@OP If/when you decide to replace the fan clutch, RockAuto has good deals on the Aisin brand, which are basically OEM.

I don't know if the 5VZ options apply to the 3RZ, but FCT-013 is the heavy-duty variant I used on my Tacoma and 4Runner; this one has a green band.

FCT-067 is the lighter duty; this one has an orange band.

The difference being that the FCT-013 kicks on sooner for better cooling as it came with vehicle's that had the tow package.

10 minute replacement, super easy. I've found them on Amazon for less than Rockauto many times.

Takes a lot less to even check it as I mentioned.
