Sadly yes even though that adds to the cost! Both p/n have cameras. But no idea why there is no details on the -04251.

This truck has panoramic cameras stock. Trying to replace broken mirror assembly with oem but they list 2 part numbers for replacing. Trying to figure out which one is the correct one as it's not returnable if i order the wrong one.

No part number inside, just a few 2 digit codes that don't mean anything to the dealer parts dept

87910-04250 is for production up to April, 2023, 87910-04251 is for production from April, 2023 onwards.

At some point, 04251 will likely supersede 04250, but that hasn't happened in the service parts supply system yet. If the dealer wasn't sure which one to use and they had your VIN, chances are your truck was produced in April, 2023. Typically, the "rule of thumb" is that in such a case, you use the newer production date, but there are occasionally cases where that's not correct. To be sure, you'd usually use the revision reference table to find the frame number change. Unfortunately the catalog does not list the revision reference for this part.

Long story short, if I was ordering the part for your truck, I would order 87910-04251. That said, if the dealer was really concerned about it, they should contact their facing PDC or technical support and have Toyota give them the part number to order, and if it's wrong, they should get you the correct one. They can't just unload that responsibility on you and say it's non-returnable if it's not right. You give them your VIN and ask for a part, it's their responsibility to get the correct part, not yours.

    Jeff

Now that makes perfect sense. I didn't even see anywhere that showed production date changes for '23. And since this truck prod. date is 8/23 the newest p/n would make sense.
    Greatly appreciate your detailed information!
