I've been OK with the factory radio/CD player, but the radio is starting to occasionally do some strange things, so it might be near the end of it's life.

I want to buy a double DIN faceplate kit now, then buy a radio when it finally craps out.

I've found two options, the Scosche Dash Kit and the Metra Dash Kit. Any recommendations between those two, or is there something better on the market?

Scosche TA2053B Dash Kit (Gray) Fits select 2005-08 Toyota Tacoma vehicles — double-DIN radios at Crutchfield

Metra 99-8214 Dash Kit (Gray/Silver) Fits select 2005-11 Toyota Tacoma vehicles — single- or double-DIN radios at Crutchfield

The difference in price between these two is negligible, so I prefer to go with the best made product.

    TIA!

I've heard American International is the best match to the OEM texture, but I still have my stock radio so can't personally vouch for it.

I always preferred the Metra over Scosche for dash kits when I was still an installer. I've got the Metra kit in my Tacoma and like how the trim for the radio is tapered back from the main body of the kit instead of just a trim ring like the Scosche one. As for texture matching, it's ok but not correct. Fortunately I don't care as I've got a 10" screen so it covers almost all of it. The AI kit looks like it has the same tapered trim piece as the Metra so I would consider it over the Scosche as well.

Here's a picture of the Metra installed on mine, or at least what's visible of it. Oh, and obviously it's in black, not silver.

I have a Scosche single DIN in my 08 Sport since about 2009 and it's been fine. It doesn't have the texture that the OEM radio/dash has though. I thought that would bug me, but it never really did.
