My 17 sport is having some weird vibrations. The first vibration I can feel in the steering wheel around 35-45mph (50-70km/h) and the second one I feel more in my seat around 70mph (110km/h). The steering wheel vibration I really only feel in the wheel, and seat one is only in the seat. I’ve tried a few things to try and solve my problem but none have seem to corrected the issue. The truck is stock, I’m at 142xxx miles (228xxx km) with no suspension upgrades or anything.

    Things I’ve done are:
new u-joints (1 done today, other 2 and hanger bearing done 4 months ago)
Transmission fluid changed last weekend at dealer
    Transfer case fluid done today

Some will say my tires are out of balance but where I am, I run 2 different sets of tires. Ones for summer and ones for winter and the vibration doesn’t change. I’m really running out of ideas on what could be causing this issue. I’ve read other forum posts and non of them really seem to be my issue.

Which is it? Not trying to call you out, but it would make it easier to help troubleshoot your vibrations

Do you have 4x4? If so does the vibration go away when it 4Hi?

I’d suspect tires or balance for the 70mph vibes. Maybe slung a weight.
Maybe wheel bearing for the low speed vibe

I’d say around the 120k mark??
    Nope still there
I was thinking the slung wheel weight at first, but I have 2 separate wheels, and my winter tires are brand new and where just balanced at beginning of winter. Same exact problem as the summers. For the wheel bearing, not sure how I’d be able to really check that as there’s no real play in them

Ive been pondering on the idea that the weights on the drums may have something to do with this??? I’ve lost both weights on the drums, but how much would those affect it?

Either axle shims or needle bearing.

I seen you posted in another thread about a blown/leaking axle seal. When the rear seals go bad and leak, the gear oil can “wash” the grease out of wheel bearings. That will lead to a short bearing life.

That was on my rear axle, bearings and all were replaced x2. Dealer installed a seal with a pin hole in it
I was under the impression the needle bearing you hear like a crunching noise or something. Was also under the impression you really only notice it after lift. Issue has been happening long before lift.

if I were you , I’d go back and start over and check everything. Then put back on.

I didn’t say about after lift. You need to check all the parts. Which you might have missed a step or something which you worked on your truck before vibration started.

Could a wheel bearing really cause a steering wheel vibration like that at low speed? Only reason I’m thinking wheel bearing for that is because I don’t feel it in my seat as much, so I believe it to be somewhere in the front end

I mentioned possible wheel bearing. I brought it up again after seeing your post about axle seal. They can cause vibrations when they go bad, front or rear. You also mentioned missing weights off the drums. Not saying that’s the source, just something I look into if it were me. How long ago were the axle seal and bearing replaced?

Anything change at 120k that you can think of? New tires, rims, work done on the truck?

You never know, take a look in there and see if seal missing or something gone bad. Once you got it fixed, then go for a ride and see vibration goes away.

Nope other than changing the u joints
for the vibration at the higher speed I was thinking drive shaft out of balance. But for the vibration threw the steering wheel I doubt it could be that
