Possibly a stupid question but I’m getting ready to do a drain and fill on my transmission since it’s been about 80k miles since it was flushed (I’m at 171k miles now) and the only fluid pumps I have have been used for gear oil when I did my diffs recently. Is it ok to use the same fluid pump for the transmission fluid and potentially get trace amounts of gear oil in my atf? Or should I just buy a new pump?

    Yes.

if in doubt clean it. You can flush some intended fluid through it first provided you have some extra such as red ATF.

You can use something like naphtha (zippo fluid, lantern white gas), odorless mineral spirits, or any fast evaporating petroleum distillate product to "clean" funnels and pumps between uses.

I bought a second pump for ATF (also good for power steering fluid). Cost less than $30, not worth the hassle of flushing.
