Not worried as it will take years to catch up with a Tacoma. I think a Kia and Hyundai have come a long way over the years but it has to pass Honda, Nissan and Mazda first!

It looks better than a Ridgeline or Cybertruck.

You've fallen victim to the fallacy of false equivalence, my friend.

kind of reminds me of a Nissan Frontier in a way. Kia makes some really nice looking cars.

A bit of a clickbait article. Its been known for a while that Kia is developing this for the Australian market. Admittedly, that is the world's most difficult market for car makers - you are talking about a continent that has a) one of the lowest densities with total population that is 25% smaller than Texas, b) has a unique set of purchasing trends AND unique regulations that make tailoring to the market a specialized endeavor, and c) is geographically isolated and has insane import regs that make for bonkers logistics.

From what I have heard, a lot of car makers are withdrawing from Australia because the margins aren't there. I have also heard that car buyers are increasingly frustrated because of weird right-to-repair rules and an ever decreasing lack of dealerships. It seems that Kia, Mazda, and a number of chinese manufacturers are the only ones actively expanding into the country.

Now. Will this truck ever switch the driver's seat and try to enter the US market? Maybe, but its doubtful. If it does happen, itll probably be a decade or more. For that to happen, an assembly line will have to be brought to a NAFTA location, the body will require some local tweaks to meet our regs, and the diesel mill will have to be dropped. Its cheaper to keep it where it is and export it to the countries that don't have a humongous chicken tax.

Maybe! I think it’s unlikely Kia North America (or whatever) is going to communicate with and glean military baddass shit from Kia Military Industrial Whatever and produce a rad truck here. Like, me HALO jumping after being trained by Navy Seals levels of unlikely. Probably a Proof by Assertion and Analogy fallacy if anything.
