4WP sliders. Sturdy. Powdercoat is thick AF.

"Engineered in USA. Made in Thailand"

Driver side was an absolute BITCH to install.

Got a good deal ($250) on them, plus I wanted a cab length flat step for this truck.

    Lessons learned, I suppose.

They are. Finish is excellent, plenty of beef in the build. Will work well for the Silver Bullet

Update: I got fired for installing these at work. Nevermind that literally everyone works on their vehicles during downtime. Love it. Whatever, moving on.

That’s dumb AF! I love going into a shop and seeing cars that have work done then not. Nice to see mods. Such BS. I’m sorry bud.

Owner can't see the forest for the trees. Been getting rough there lately. Several people are putting in notices or packing their shit up on Monday.

Shoulda put em on my truck, maybe you'd still have a job there!
Always another job on down the road. Take your licks and keep on moving forward. I've worked a lot of different places and with the exception of one job, I've always gone up in pay when taking the next.

Guess I could have worded that better. Hired at another Toyota dealership so I can keep working on what I know and appreciate in the automotive world. But in the background I think I'm going to work on other things like certifications for electrician or IT stuff. I like what I do. I don't necessarily like the dealership or shop model for working on cars and to be honest I think more money can be made elsewhere.

I have done the concrete thing from the ground side and that's a lot of fun and I don't mind working outside with manual labor. There's just no forward movement. Even with the union outfits, you pretty much stuck where you're at unless you marry the boss's daughter or something.

On the bright side, I still have Shop access so I can keep my stuff maintained/built and I can still impart nuggets of wisdom regarding Toyota Tech and ruffle feathers that way :D

That’s why you do it from the other side. Then you just gotta drive around lol where my brothers at, once they deem you competent, you can move onto training, plant management, etc

for it stuff, there’s a ton of stuff out there. I’ve sent this one to people before
    https://grow.google/certificates/it-support/

probably have to start in some kind of help desk role then after a year or two can move into administration

working for a var, partner, msp, can get you moving up in a hurry. A lot faster than doing IT for a random company.

Just realized you had a build thread and subscribed.

Listen to what he says. 100% agree help desk is fastest way to get your foot in the door. From there if you aren't a total tard you can move up or sideways. Figure out what things you like doing and then do certs from there. I've been in this 20 years and all I have is an ITIL v4 Foundations cert that was acquired recently so IT isn't a field where you are required to always have pieces of paper proving it. If you can do the work someone will notice.

The only certs I have are from when I was on the partner side and vendors require them, but they pay for the classes and training. It’s stupid how much some places can value random ones at times because if they don’t have enough people on staff with certain ones they can lose their partner agreements.

I’m convinced you could make a career out of stocking up on certs just to sit on someone’s payroll and not actually do any work.

edit: god I’m almost up to 20 years in IT too.. now I feel old
