Hello everyone I'm a new member from SE Texas in a town call Friendswood, which is between Houston and Galveston. I've been doing a bit of reading on here so figured I'd join. I dont currently have a Tacoma but hope to change that soon.

I do a lot of night hunting for hogs and predators. Right now I hunt out of my daily driver F250. Sometimes use my polaris ranger but neither vehicles are what I would call quiet. I thought about an electric polaris but they dont make a crew, only a 2 seater. Golf cart is out as they are not good offroad. So that is what lead me here. I've always liked tacomas and figured a 4 cyl or 6 cyl would be considerable quieter than what I am using now.

I'll be on the forum trying to educate myself on the different tacoma models and try to find one that fits what I need. I'd like to get a gen 1 or 2 and rig it out for hunting, or find one already rigged. Definitely want a dual cab, 4x4 and automatic. Doesnt have to be super nice but dont want a beater either. I'll drive it around town every now and then.

Any advice or pointers, or things to stay away from would be great. And please bear with me if I ask yall some stupid questions. I admittedly dont know squat about Tacoma's. :D

Welcome! I've definitely driven on 45 enough times to recognize Friendswood!

There are so many build threads on here I am sure you can find someone who has done something similar that you can draw ideas from. You could probably grab a good deal on a later model 2nd gen. Would give you a little more room to outfit over a 1st Gen.

I just picked up this 2004 double cab 4x4 with 166k on it. I'm pretty happy with the condition. There's no major issues that I can see so far. There's something about these gen 1's that kept attracting me to them. I think they have great lines. I posted a build thread in the first gen section and I'll update it as I go along.
