The C-pillar is quite strong on unibody crossovers. I suspect there will be some local deformation affecting the door sealing, probably not a concern in the UAE or wherever this was photographed.

Can anyone explain to me how one specific group gets exclusive access to crown land for 4 months? The trails aren't groomed and if there's no snow, no one else can use them. Who do we have to lobby? Who did they vote for? Is it municipal, provincial, federal?

That's a fight I don't even want to consider. Anything to do with government you will loose. It might be better to just get a snowmobile, can't beat em join em kind of thing.

It's provincially regulated. Riding a snow vehicle on designated OFSC trails on crown land require a snow vehicle license and vehicle permit in the winter months, a bit like driving a regular car on highways requires a license plate. There's also conservation interest from MNR, etc. since wheeled vehicles can tear up the ground more easily in the spring thaw.

The law amendment occurred in 2000, Conservative gov't at the time: https://www.ola.org/en/legislative-business/bills/parliament-37/session-1/bill-101

^A bit more complicated than that. They came up with a scheme where the whole snowmobiling population pays yearly for permits and got the gub'ment onboard with the idea.

Same as motorcycle insurance. Why are we paying for months that they know very well we're not using the service. Ofsc and motorcycle insurance.

Paying year round is mildly annoying but insurance isnt too expensive for sleds.

I’d have to check but I pay in the neighbourhood of $50 a month for my sled for insurance on a newer sled
Licence plate registration is like $25 a year
And a trail pass is $260 a year.

Imo trail pass could be cheaper but at the same time i always laugh at the guys that just bought a $20,000 sled and cry over $300

edit* trail pass could be cheaper knowing that Michigan's trail pass is $58 for the year

I didn’t ride if there was snow on the ground.

it was funny getting out of work at 4am - everyone was scraping their windows and I was scraping my seat.

I’ll keep it brief for the privacy of the individual, but long story short, I worked with one of the full time groomer drivers this winter. Employees get treated like shit, they’ve got funds going places they shouldn’t be, and they’re losing a ton of private land because they’re fucking over land owners and offering them no support.
