I just sold my 2021 truck I spent about 20 hours pulling all the mods off of it. I got what I wanted out of the truck and a little over 9k for the mods I pulled off of it in about 2 weeks. I lost about 5k in the mods and my time but I was pretty happy with where I landed.

To me and some people, the self build adventure is the value over but I understand it. I still have all my stock parts for the eventual tear down one day. Maybe I'll buy a 2023 and swap mods on a 7 years newer 3rd gen.

I'll say it; when I think built I think at the very least lockers, and custom fab work.

    That's all bolt-on stuff :crapstorm:

Just know that being proud is not linearly equal with what the truck will fetch in today’s market. This isn’t fall of 2020…

I’m proud of my truck, but at least honest with myself that I’m going to “lose money” on it. Vehicles are almost always a “loss” if you pretend that you can sell for more than what you paid by using it for several years.

I’m kinda laughing at the lecture. I know these things are money pits. I’ve enjoyed the build. I’m not sure where the value expectations have emerged in this.
I was just genuinely asking what are the preferred forums to advertised builds these days. Bringatrailer and cars and bids seem to be reasonable answers.

Overland kitted 3rd Gen Tacomas are a dime a dozen, nothing special, nor are they rare. Can’t swing a dead cat around without hitting one here. Sell it like any other vehicle.

Look I'm not gonna be rude or roast you. You have a very nice truck with lots of mods. However you have to treat the mods and the truck as two separate things the truck has moderately high miles to fetch top dollar. Without mods it's at best 35 to 38 k as is with mods best case is 46 and you world have to find the exact person to buy. Strip it down you get 10 to 12 k on market place and on here in BST. Not trying to be harsh or a douche that's just what the market is.

My take on your mods list. Bold is take off and sell, italics is little to no resale value added, underlined is what I’d leave on and expect some return from.

OP is being a good sport. Its a nice truck and Im sure he is proud of the hard work he put into it.

leave a For Sale sign in the rear window and pop one on side windows when parked. You never know who may see it and have to have it.

I think I’m gonna give Bring a Trailer and a few local Facebook groups a try in the coming weeks.
I live in the burbs of NYC/CT area. There’s a LOT more people with more money than time to execute a build like this around here than out west. I certainly have one of the more unique trucks in the area, no dead cats required.

My back is fxcked and I got a boss job now too so gettin out of the work done is a big investment. If it’s a loss it’s a loss. I coulda throwed the $ at far worse.

    Wish me luck.
