    Hello,

I took apart the dash to clean off the corrosion behind the 12v outlet plugs. Testing with a multi eyer shows non continuity between either the plug studs on either of the plugs, AND non continuity between the holes/metal in the plastic piece at the end of the wires for both outlets.

    I took pictures.

What can I do to fix this? Is there a way to remove the ends of the wires from the plastic and clean it with vinegar and toothbrush? Is it better to just order new parts?

I charge my electronics on these outlets every day, it's very important to fix this as soon as I can. Any smart advice appreciated. Thanks.

Those outlets wear out over time and stop making good contact with the plug-in piece at the center electrode and ground. Why not just do a careful clean and refresh of the connector contacts and replace them? They're not very expensive. I think the plastic covers cost more than the receptacle and you have it all apart anyway. I replaced one that didn't want to work half the time and did the broken/missing covers while it was all apart.

You should not have continuity between the 2 studs.
Same for the 2 wires/holes on the connector.

Have you confirmed you have power to the outlet?
Set your meter to DC volts.
Place one probe in the slot for one wire, the other on the other wire.

I checked the conectors for DC voltage before putting it back together, and, no voltage.

Where's the best place to buy the replacement arts?

What's the best way to remove the plugs without damaging the surrounding plastic, or the plugs' plastic clippies holding it tight from the back (for if ever required to remove-clean-put-back in the future.

    Thanks for the advices.

Doesn’t look like enough corrosion to not have any voltage at all
Have you checked the fuse, and checked for voltage AT the fuse?

Strange I would have thought that would have been the first things to check.
